I'm On the Road Again!!!
G'day all.
I'd like some advice. You see, I am often out of town on the road and, therefore, my gym program or activities have all gone up in smoke.
How do I maintain the routine? It's like one week, I am in town and the next I am on the road. And generally, when I am away, I work until all hours.
I desperately need to make a plan, because my doctor did a dance of joy at me the other day about my blood pressure.
I try to avoid fizzy drinks and stick to apple juice and water. I also try to avoid junk food, and eat salads and veg (hold the fries and onion rings, please). Unfortunately, my colleagues are not good influences, but I do not want to end up like them (round and 140kg+ [300lbs+]).
So, HEEELLLLLPPP!!!

ah.maybe get different friends.....do what is best for YOU,no matter who you alienate........your choice,your body.....their body=-health issues =much easier
take care.IMF
ps : I found out it is best to hang around people who want to encourage you,
since you can't CHANGE people=most of the time, sometimes it means getting
away from those people or developing a stronger
'willpower"

I just endured a three month travel thing, and I agree that it sucks. The 'working all hours' thing is pretty rough, but - aside from that - I think that my routine may help.
My first decision was to stay in an extended-stay hotel, about ten minutes away from everyone else: I got a complete kitchen, so I was able to eat a far superior diet. I also got a temporary gym membership at the nicest gym (with the most flexible hours) I could find. B/c I could pack a meal and snacks for the day, I was able get out of regularly visiting a wide selection of America's "casual dining restaurants" (dinners with clients, etc, though, are still required. But that's only 2-3 meals a week). I was able to still work out 4-5 times a week, and - instead of losing ground or just treading water - I got in some pretty good workouts. My colleagues, however, remain overweight.
Hope it helps. BTW - ask if you can get a per diem instead of just expensing everything. I ended up spending about a hundred dollars a night less than everyone else. The difference, ahem, *disappeared.*

I have read articles about workouts you can do in your hotel room, stuff like situp, pushups, etc. that don't require equipment. I guess that is OK, better than doing nothing. But what I often do when traveling in a new city is go for long walks. You get to see the city at 'street level', and maintain at least a basic level of fitness.
