New experiments
I've spent the last two weeks doing tons of research on three different natural products. Apple cider vinegar, cayenne pepper, and coconut oil. Interestingly, all three have weight loss benefits. Apple cider vinegar (ACV) is a great detoxificant helps regulate ph, and has a ton of other uses as well. Cayenne stimulates the metabolism, and like ACV, helps remove the accumulated plaque from the interior of the arteries. and helps with weight loss. Coconut oil has medium chain triglycerides, which have been used in bodybuilding for lean muscle for quite some time. Used topically, it's great for the hair and skin, and even attacks cellulite. People ingesting a tablespoon 3 x a day, report steady weight loss UNLESS they are already at a lean weight. It's also a great source of energy.
I ran across all this because I started looking for natural ways to detox my system, and feel better. Currently, I've been in a fair amount of pain, and I've been concerned with inflammation-foot surgery.
I've started this regimen this week. Three times a day, in a hot cup of green tea, I use two tspns of ACV, and take two cayenne capsules. I should add that the cayenne is best digested when combined with saliva, but that much is unpleasant for me. What I do is drop a 1/4 capsule's worth of the cayenne powder in the cocktail, and then re-assemble the capsule and take it along with another one. To sweeten it, stevia may be used, or grade B maple syrup-not the maple flavored corn syrup. I'm getting mad energy from this, and it beats any energy drink I've ever tried. It also kicks cravings as well. I start ingesting the coconut oil in the morning.
I'm going to run a three month trial on this and report as I go along. If anyone wants to look into these items, E A R T H . C L I N I C is a good place to start, but do it when you have time. There's alot of info on that site, as well as tons of feedback.

Sounds interesting, definitely keep us updated on your experiment.
By the way, ironically ACV stands for cerebrovascular accident in french... not something you'd want to supplement to your diet

Is there any side effect with taking all this cayenne. If there was an equal amount of capsicum in food products as in the amount your ingesting, going to the bathroom might become an other wordly experience that's a lot of hot pepper equivalent....

the only time it would be of great concern would be if you have some pretty bad heimmoroidal problems and bleed from them daily. it would most definitely burn a little. but hot peppers as stated are great for you! another plus is if bouncer ever gets pepper spayed in the future it wont be as efficient at controling him as the effects of pepper spray greatly diminish if diet has lots of hot pepper in it.

I've actually been interested in taking Cayenne supplement, as I have started reading about the benefits of it recently. Please keep us up to date on your findings. I may have to go ahead and buy some of that for myself. Any recommendation on the amount of Cayenne to take? You say you were taking two pills three times a day, but whats the dosage of those pills?

Each capsule I take is 40,000 heat units. So 240,000 heat units per day. I have Zero problems with the capsules. I went to those because the equivalent in the tea was flippin' brutal! Like I mentioned in the original post, I use 1/4 to 1/2 capsules worth in the tea, re assemble the capsule and take it along with another one. My girlfriend is doing this with me and she is reporting increased energy, and better mental clarity. That's great for her as she is in a bio-technology program, and only a few weeks from her degree. I can attest that this new regimen has flat busted me out of a lethargic funk. It's not just the cayenne though. The ACV works too.
Also....I read that Cayenne is a great transporter. In other words, it makes the other supplements you take more effective.

Well, here's the first update. Without being on diets per say, my girlfriend and I have both lost weight this week. The increased circulation has helped some with the healing process I've been dealing with. I've lost some puffiness around my eyes as well. Our energy is up, and pretty much constant. I'm pretty sure that coincides with the increased mental clarity we are both experiencing. Our skin is improving too. I listed everything I'm taking in another thread in this section today. So far, I'm pretty happy with the results.

Yeah I love cayenne pepper, but find it hard to put in to some cooking. I also heard that taking green tea with some squeezed orange in there helps the benefits of the green tea even more.

Green tea with a slice of lemon is supposed to be great too. I guess its a citrus thing.

I figured I would update the progress of this every two weeks or so, so here it is. It literally feels as if my body is righting itself. Prior to this, I've been in a constant energy deficit. Although I'm still a bit gimpy,,,I have more energy that I have had in recent memory. I'm back in the gym with a vengeance, and my strength is up. As far as the weight loss, I'm not really dieting but my clothes are looser-except around the arms and shoulders. Fat loss-12 pounds.
I should add that the cost of this experiment is about $6 a week.

Glad to hear your feeling better and are on the mend. one question, the coconut oil, are you mixing that into the tea/cayenne/acv mix or downing it like cough syrup from a spoon? Based on your results sounds like it might be worth a look....

heres a suggestion for anybody else that wants to add coconut oil in there diets, 2 tbs or more added into scrambled eggs. it absorbs into the egg mix and makes some pretty nice fluffy eggs. i never noticed a difference in taste either on the scrambled eggs.
i normally have high concentrations of hot peppers in my diet, but had to give them up for a while untill my surgery healed up. "blasted hemoirhoids"! but ive added them back in and even picked up the cayenne capsules tonight at wal-mart when i was restocking on my dhea.

I just started using the DHEA, and I like it. I started using it after doing research on anti-aging.
Wildstang, I remember my adopted son asking me if I thought he had "assteroids." It was a few hours after hot mexican food. The health food stores sell capsules of "Cool Cayenne," which have a bit of ginger to make it feel a bit cooler in the stomach. It's made by Solaray.
I just finished Saturday morning scrambled eggs. I wish I would have read your post before. I'm going to try that in the morning.

Another Apple Cider Vinegar discovery: I've seen reports that it works against lactic acid buildup. I breaks down the crystals of lactic acid allowing the bloodstream to move it out of the muscle sooner. I can attest to this without sending my girlfriend to her lab. I'm back to training very hard and my recovery time is shorter and the lactic burn doesn't stay for 3-4 days like it used to.
