Protein Poll
Hi All,
Just because we haven't had a new poll in a while I thought i'd make one.
This isn't asking what the best protein source is but rather what your favorite one is.

I voted for supp but I guess it's because it's the one I use the most. Not that this is good or ideal but I just do it out of convenience when I'm at work or somewhere I need a quick fix of protein.

I voted for chicken, but I like diversity so if it was my only source of protein I would get bored pretty fast!
I would have voted "all of the above except for soy" if I could

Agree on the "all of the above" option -- and I even eat soy periodically (tofu or edamame form only). But grass-fed beef is still on top of the pile for me.

I put other meat because once you eat buffalo, beef just doesn't cut it.

Buffalo's also great, but I've got a source (hint: he's a farmer) that sells me grass-fed beef at about $2 a pound. I can get about 50 pounds in my freezer .
My buffalo guy is a lot more sporadic (he raises them for fun, so there can be a year or so when nothing's slaughtered), but that stuff's amazing. Buffalo sirloin . . . mmmmmmmmm.

I voted eggs because it is regarded as the standard by which all other foods are compared to in protein content.
Plus, I love my scrambled eggs and omelets.

I can't help it, a big juicy New York Strip on the grill, sizling away, just calling me towards the table. Not sure if it's the dinner table or the operating table for the by-pass...hehe

I put chicken just because its what i make the most as far as ease/price. I too would have done all of the above. I have 8oz of meat 6 times a day so i mix it up quite well.
Typical day, eggs, white fish, chicken, pork loin, steak, and then whatever i still feel like for dinner.

I picked chicken for the poll but like many others have said, I eat a variety, so I could have used an "all of the above" choice.
Beef, fish, and eggs would be right up there with chicken.

I heard ostrich is really hard to cook. Is that true? Was watching "Iron Chef America" and they were saying that its really hard to get right.

With Ostrich it's a fine line. Needleing always helps but if you overcook it you looking at one really dry chewy ordeal. If you slice it into 2 inch thick pieces then marinade for about an hour, grill it hot then let it rest, it will be one of the best steaks you'll ever eat. The cut makes a difference as well. Outer muscle tissue is always tougher.... My .02

I guess my top fav would be a grilled fillet mignon with a side of asparagus and broccoli. But I agree that buffalo is also a great option and it is better than beef in my opinion. Lower in fat too. Mmmmmmmm...

I vote eggs.9 grams of protein per egg.I get most my protein from eggs and soy.3 eggs in the morning with a protein shake(yuck), and off to work. That is almost my daily protein needs for my body weight.Easy to make up the rest during the rest of the day.I over eat protein usually. Most people think I must be under since Im a vegetarian. Not true at all.By the way Im an octo- lacto0 vegetarian(eat eggs and dairy products)
