Default Healthy comfort food?

Works been tough lately, and by the time I get home I cant but tell myself I deserve some pizza, or chocolate, or alcohol or all of the above. Do you guys get like that? what should I do instead when you just wanna go home and relax?

O.K Geeg......here's a couple of ideas for ya......As for alcohol, if you are going to, then stick to the red wines...but limited...good way to limit is buy a nice $$$ wine, and savour!

foods:
f.f cottage cheese w/ 1tbs unsweetened fruite puree (apple sauce, berries mango pineapple...whatever you enjoy) cinnamon to taste

Scoop chocolate whey, 1/4c f.f vanilla yogurt, 1tbsp natty p.b (very oeey, gooey...but quite satisfying) can sub vanilla for strawberry and it's p.b and J.

I don't have too many sweet treat ideas.....I'm more of a salty crunchy kind of gal

I'd suggest for a meal...turkey meatloaf and mashed yams, but you're in the middle of crazy heat temps....who wants a heavy meal like that?! Hmmmmm? There's a start for ya anyways..

A bowl of broccoli heads. Dip the tip of each broccoli head into your favorite salad dressing.

GG, think of the chocolate being on the pizza, and I'm sure that would kill your appetite.

Both Lizzy and Insex have very good ideas. Any vegetable you like would work quite well with a healthy dressing.

My easy meal is lean beef, chicken or shrimp sauteed with mixed vegetables over couscous or bulgar wheat, everything cooks fast with minimal effort. Hope this is helpful

well, for some southern comfort food, I just made a chicken pot pie for 176.5 calories a serving (3/4 cup); 13 g protein, 3.7 g fat, 13.9 g carbs, more sodium than I care to mention (will reduce ALOT next time):

1 chicken breast (1/2), cooked (left over from Sunday cook-a-thon for the week's meat)
1 can reduced fat cream of chicken soup (10.5 oz)
1/3 can chicken broth (will use low-sodium next time)
1 hard boiled egg (from cage-free chickens), cut up
1 tiny can of veggies- I used lima beans today, can use a veggie mix and celery
lots of fresh cracked pepper
a little salt (next time will use celery salt)

Optional crust: equal parts margarine, milk, and self-rising flour- mix together and pour over top. Really, this isn't necessary, though I included a thin topping when I added up the nutrition info.

mix all together in a bowl, then bake at 375 F for 30-35 minutes or until bubbly around edges.

now THAT'S some comfort food!

Have some fresh baby carrots or any other fresh vegetable or fruit but be sure to avoid pizza and all junk food when you're on diet

When I'm thinking snacks and easy to do after a hard day I go with the following Choices<<<
Blend my own protein shake(Could be a peanut butter one, or fruit one)
Any type of Nuts (Pecans, Cashews, etc)
Wine or Beer ( Try Magic Hat Beer *#9* taste is great with different flavors and strengths)
Bowl of Cereal or Oatmeal
Good old home made SANDWICH with the works!! and a few chips is not bad...
Cottage cheese with fruit---Same if use Yogurts...
TrailMix
If just need that Pizza go wtih a all natural one from a EarthFare as make it a thin crust!! Your body and your mind will be at ease
Just some thoughts as I know my buddies hate that I can snack and still stay ripped!! haha
I have a sweet tooth out of this world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

These are my "dammit, I gotta have something" choices that I keep around the house. Note that I'm on a low carb diet.

1) Celery with natural peanut butter. I get two stalks, cut them into threes, and I spread roughly 2 tablespoons of the natty pb across the stalks before I cut them.

2) Skim mozzarella cheese sticks. Zero carbs listed, and good protein.

3) Dark Chocolate. This stuff can satisfy my sweet tooth. Last night, after a day of eggs, salad, chicken, salad chicken, salad.........I read the nutrition label on some dark chocolate that I bought my girlfriend a few days ago (I am a smart boyfriend. Women need compliments, air, and dark chocolate) and each square had only 4 grams of carbs. I had two squares with some carbonated mineral water. Craving...satiated! Carb count for the day was still under 50 grams.

4) The aforementioned mineral water. I can't stand sugar filled soft drinks anymore, and after all the research I've done on aspartame, I've abandoned the Diet Pepsi. Carbonated mineral water, or sparkling water gives me the bubbles I want without drinking crap.

5) I have a glass of wine once or twice a week.

6) If I really want a cocktail, I'll have a dry martini or two. Mike Mentzer used these or a vodka gimlet as a treat/wind down drink even close to contest.

I have a few other things but these are the staples. An occasional single slice of pizza (thin crust) isn't so bad either.
