Need help!
hi guys! First of all just let me say thanks for all of the great posts, you all have helped me a lot! I know i have not contributed, but hopefully that will change once I return from deployment. Right now, these computers are set to block this site (for some unknown reason), so I have to do a little work around. Anyway, I've got about 5 weeks to go before I return for mid-tour leave and want to look my leanest. i read somewhere that niacin and chromium picolinate can help with weight loss, but now I can't find that article anymore. Does anyone out there have any experience with this (doseage, duration, etc...)? If you do, please let me know, or if you have any other suggestions, they are all welcome. I've been following Pauline Nordin's fighter diet as best I can over here, and have been working out rigorously and regularly. i've lost 20lbs since Dec and my shoulders, chest, back and arms are bigger, really I'm not that bad off, just need to lose the last bit of fat around the mid section. Again, all suggestions are welcome and thanks in advance!

I've never tried experimenting weight loss with niacin and chromium picolinate; I don't even know what those two things are. You can try searching through Google if you remember what the article you are seeking looked like.
However, if losing weight and flattening your mid-section is your only concern, then that's nothing that plenty of running and healthy eating won't solve.

Roger, that!
I'll just keep chuggin' along, then. I was just wondering if anybody out there had any little secrets for my last 4 weeks. Thanks for your response, I appreciate it!

Only thing that works for me is to eat more food and do more cardio. Good luck on that last bit.

You want to get really lean? Get rid of carbs for the next 4 weeks. Some cardio and keep lifting. Here's my pre-contest diet:
meal 1: 5 whole omega 3 eggs
2 TBS udo's
24OZ H2O
meal 2: 35g protein powder
2 TBS peanutbutter
24OZ H2O
meal 3: 6oz chix
1/4 nuts
1cp broccoli
24OZ H2O
meal 4: 35g protein powder
2 TBS peanutbutter
24OZ H2O
meal 5 6oz chix
1/4 nuts
1cp broccoli or asparagus
24OZ H2O
meal 6 4oz flank or tenderloin steak
1 large salad (jus grns)
1C aspargus
2tbs Udo's oil
24OZ H2O
meal 7 25g protein powder
2 TBS peanutbutter

I did low-carb for two weeks (less than 30g or less) and was pretty much dead to teh world for ten of those days -- brain fog, no concentration, etc. I did blow up huge once i carb-loaded, though. On the balance, I didn't think it was worthwhile for teh weight-loss, though in its defense, it did work. My preference is to not go below 75g/day carbs (well, my preference is to stay in the multiple hundreds, but for low-carb purposes, then 75g).

The key is getting lots of EFAs. All the peanut butter (natural with Omega 3s), Udo's Oil, and almonds and cashews, plus fish oil supps morning and night.

I would say ditch the weight loss supplement, it is possible to lose 10lbs within 4 weeks (or 1 mth). The key is to ensure most of the 10 lbs are fats and water. Keeping the carbs low (around 1g per pound of LEAN body mass or lesser), while keeping the protein high and fats moderate may help. Also drink lots of water, around 1 gallon would help in getting rid of water retention.
4 weeks is too early to start carbs depletion IMO, it may be better to taper down till the last week.

Thanks to all! I'm gonna taper down this week, then follow Toonces' diet the next 3 weeks as best I can. I've got my EFA supps, but I'll have to do without the UDOs (don't know what it is, couldn't get it here in time anyway), and if my luck holds out, I'll be at South Padre this time next month!

Great to hear, bro! I wouldn't worry about matching my diet exactly unless you want to see how disciplined you are It will work though! Here's a link to the UDO's site just FYI...I have to buy the stuff at a healthfood store (not GNC but a real healthfood store!) Good luck and let us know how it turns out

Thanks to all who helped me lean down when I needed it! Thanks especially to Toonces! As you can see, I hit the beach at a lean and mean 172lbs, and all the looks and head turning that I received made all the hard work and dedication worth it! I'm back in Iraq and now I'm gearing down to call an end to this depoyment soon, so it's back to the gym, I'm just glad that after moving around so much the last couple of months, I have a gym to go to. Thanks again, guys!

if you really wanna try a weight loss item, whats worked wonders 4 me has been ephedrine hcl. i know most people frown on weight loss supps but it has worked wonders for me in helping retain hard worked gains, and gives me that little extra umph im missing when going low carb. i take it with a baby aspirin, and caffeine pill 2x a day am and b-4 workout early eve. so its not keeping me up bouncing off the walls. use it on my wakeing morning run b-4 breakfast and it helps avoid that lethargic fealing one gets with low carb diets. and my diet supps also closely mirror toonces on the EFA's.
