Football
I start college this year and I'm thinking about walking on. I was up for a scholarship or two but I wasn't able to take them because I was injured. I tore something in my shoulder my junior year, still haven't had that looked at, and a knee injury that I got my sophmore year in HS football and reinjured my senior year. I've been lax on working out because it's unconfortable with my knee and shoulder problems.
I want to get back in shape. What can I do besides running, I already know that :P, that can help me stay in shape? Some exercises or something that I can do while I'm at home? Perhaps some diets that will help me get back in shape? I dont want to lose weight per se only try to tone up because I need that extra padding because I'm an offensive lineman. I'm a pretty big guy, 6'6" 315lbs looking to maybe get down to 300 or so.
Thanks for your help!

SWIMMING my good man!! Swimming is Non-impact... great for cardio and also helps in strength building! Also Biking is always good. As far as at home try the basics. pushups, leg lifts, knee bends... anything just to get the blood flowing basically.
It sounds to me like you just need to get a plan together and execute it.
PUT DOWN THOSE JELLY DONUTS SOLDIER!!

well it depends on how limited you are really...you can probably still carry out certian exercises with free weights...
why dont you have your injuries looked at and see what's happening..?
you want to keep the 'muscle' and 'lose the fat' basically...this can be done through a good combination of diet and cardio.
you dont have to go on an actual 'diet'..just change things up a bit in what you normally eat in a day...

I am a firm believer in posture helping out someone's weight. If you have a big gut, for example, sit up straight more often. It's not exactly proven to work, but one thing I have noticed is men with huge guts tend to slouch a lot. Women that have big thighs hips rear-ends tend to sit way too much. I wonder if they were to firm up the posture or activity thing if it would help the food in their stomaches digest properly. *shrug*
ANYWAY, the best way to lose diet is to reduce your eating. Eat the same foods if you'd like, but reduce your portions. Substitute a junk food of your choice with something healthy. I mean, instead of eating Doritos try some Wheat Thins. Wheat Bread instead of White. Sammich without cheese or any sort of dressings on top. Start small and realize you don't want to lose your 15 lbs or so in the first day.
Good luck

Olipyr...maybe you should start training now, redshirt your freshman year, or even just wait until your sophomore year when you know you will be in excellent condition and ready to play. Just a thought but if you do try to play this year goodluck. Also what division?
