Did everybody see Steve Smith of Carolina beat Fred Smoot like a bratty child at a Wal Mart? I read that Smoot shot his mouth off in Pregame. I'd love to hear what he said because he made Fred look absolutely stupid.

Smack talk will always be a part of sport, and I absolutely enjoy seeing some jackass get his sh*t handed to him after he runs his mouth about something.

My ultimate hope is to see T.O. get knocked the fock out. Just once. That's all I need. As incredibly gifted as he is, it doesn't cover up the fact that he is a complete and total ass.

Steve Smith makes a lot of DBs look like little kids on the field. Hey, if it happened at WalMart, maybe d-boi saw it.

Yeah, I'd love to see TO get absolutely "de-cleated" coming across the middle. "Monday Night Matchup" showed the moves that Steve Smith made to absolutely dust Smoot. His techniques and footwork left Smoot sucking wind.

Being from the Philadelphia area, I am a Eagles fan. A part of me feels like we sold our soul to the devil to get T.O. He was never one of my favorite players, and have longed for him to get smacked. However, when that "jerk" is on your team it makes you feel weird. You want your team to do well, but another part of you hates to see it done by someone that you just can't stand. A quandry.

Of course, this is all moot anyway because the Eagles SUCK right now.

Friggin' fat bastard Andy "I like pork" Reid is so devoted to the pass that it is hurting the team. When 76% of your offense is devoted to the pass nobody is going to play the run. Nobody is going to bite on play action pass because they know that you aren't going to run it anyway. All that is going to do is get your quarterback killed.

Denver had nine men in the box, and old fatboy still insisted on passing. If the other team is blitzing you, which is how teams have figured out how to beat the Eagles, then at least have the decency to call some screens, some quick slants, or some traps or draws. Nope. Not fatboy. Other teams are just teeing off on an already injured McNabb. Squash. Sack.

The Eagles first possession lasted all of 12 seconds. No wonder the defense looks so bad. They are on the field the whole damn time.

Gman venting.

Tru, GMan. If TO was playing for the Chargers or Broncos, I'd probably feel differently. The guy may be a cocky, arrogant prick, but he is a stud. I sure as hell wouldn't want to have to tackle him.

GMan, with all your cat pics, i'm surprised you're not a "Panther" fan!

Sweet. An NFL thread!

I am sorry GMAN... but I am a Cowboys fan.

And I almost hate to say it but you sound like the typical Eagles fan. I have a lot of friends who pull for the Iggles. You guys are really passionate about your football but total fair weather fans when they lose.

Just a little man show style ribbing there.

I actually like Andy Reid. I think he has done a masterful job in Philly. But you are right, they pass too damn much. With a veteran like Westbrook in the backfield... how can you not utilize him more often? And as much as I despise TO, he is a badass and needs to get the ball. Open up the run game and those other weapons will get open.

As I mentioned, I am a Cowboys fan and I am used to all the criticism. Seems all my NFL buddies got real jealous of our success in the 90's. Hahaha. I knew this year's team had vast potential, just wasn't sure it would come together this year. Changing to the three-four in the off season was a huge task to mount, but the rookies have come a long way very quickly. Our defense is stifling at times and the offense is no slouch either. I knew so many people who badmouthed the aquisition of Bledsoe. By no means is he our answer for the long haul, but he's doing a damn fine job right now. We should be 7-1, but conservative play calling can hurt you at times. With Payton calling the plays I had hoped the offense would open up, which it has at times, but Parcells still has him on a close leash.

Ahhh... I love football season...

Oh and since I reside in the Carolinas these days, I also tend to pull for the Panthers... but after the Cowboys.

Man, I am sure glad Steve Smith is back!

Yeah, I wasn't sure how Steve Smith would be this year after breaking his leg last year. The way he lit up the Viking secondary like a christmas tree, I think he's back 100%!

Spoken like a true Cowboys fan.

Philly fans are passionate. Nobody here is fair weather. If you suck, we will be the first to tell you so. Loyalty runs deep in Philly. During all those Tom Landry years, when we got the snot beat out of us, the Eagles never failed to sell out. Sell out for a losing franchise. A franchise that hadn't won a championship since 1960.

Don't get me started about loyalty in the baseball fans. One championship in over 100 years, and the fans still support them.

Yes, we boo. That is our right. But we eat, sleep, and drink our sports here. That is why Philadelphia is usually voted FIRST or SECOND in TSN's Top 100 Best Sports towns. Dallas is far down on that list.

I actually felt sorry for the Eagles in the first half of the Bronx game. Especially Donovan. He couldn't do anything. You are right Gman - if you are getting blitzed on every play, change it up a little - throw a screen, quick out...

The first time in NFL history there were 2 100 yard backs and a 300 QB. Kind of a meaningless stat (IMO) but still a good measure how dominant the Bronx were. Do I think the Bronx are that good? no. Do I think the Eagles are that bad? no.

Indianapolis is the measure of a real team. When the Bronx can go into Indianapolis and win a playoff game, I'll believe.

The Vikings really surprised me. I thought that they'd contend this year. What a joke. I guess they're too busy pimping and whoring on fishing boats to play any football this year. They should have fired Tice a long time ago. He's a boob of a head coach. No spine, or character. They remind me of the Old Barry Switzer Sooner's that got too out of hand.

The Broncos are legitimate contenders. They have a very balanced attack. Always a strong runing game during Shanahan's tenure there. And what about Jake? I mean this guy has never really gotten any credit. He's tough and he manages the game well. He finally has a decent O line to protect him and he's making things happen.

I remember in pre season Bradshaw predicted Jake would have a great year and the rest of the pregame show boys on Fox ridiculed him...

The Eagles are still a great team. No dount there. the NFC East is actually a tough division this year. No coasting for anybody. I just don't think the Eagles have a fair chance with Donovan hurt. He's tough as nails and plays through the pain but you can tell its getting to him.

It's tough to be stellar one year and then fall off. Just ask the Panthers.

I think the Broncos have a chance, but they have been in this exact position as this year the last two years - one or two losses mid way through the season. They haven't shown that they can win on the road against Indianapolis though (in the past two years). IMO, the road to the Super Bowl will be in Indianapolis this year. Cincinatti, Pittsburgh and the Broncos look good, but wow - Indianapolis!

What is it about the Broncos that they seem to churn out quality running backs year after year after year? Now that is the version of the west coast offence that I wish the Eagles would run.

The Panthers seem like a snake bitten franchise. How many years in a row are they going to suffer a major injury to a key player?

Broncos had Alex Gibbs as a line coach. He was a big proponent of the smaller, more athletic offense linemen. Shanahan's mentality has always been the one cut and up the field mentality. He is not a fan of the "finesse" back. He likes the big bruiser. Shanahan has a great eye for the kind of back he needs in his system and has been successful at getting them deep in the draft (Terrell Davis = 7th round draft pick)

Orlandis Gary, Mike Anderson, Reuben Droughns, are all good backs, but are products of the Broncos' system. Ask Clinton Portis if he would like to put on a Broncos uniform again.

Tangent - the trade for Champ Bailey was genius. Sure Portis is a great back, but Shanahan new that Anderson could fill in, and he used the draft pick from the trade on Tatum Bell.

Good to see so many NFC East fans here! Too bad you will all be disapointed when the Giants continue their domination of the division! Actually we were 5-2 last year at the same time and look what happened. Believe it or not, the Giants actually have the highest scoring offense in league right now. That's obviously not historically the way the G-men (not Gman) have played, but the Skin's game this weekend convinced me that the defense still has it in them to compete. Put the two together and you get a result like last Sunday. Then again they may just have been playing on the emotion surrounding Wellington Mara's death. It would be amazing to see Eli and Peyton squaring off at the Super Bowl though.

Giants are a good team. The Broncos looked to have the game in control. They missed a field goal that Elam normally would have hit (and the game would have been over). Eli got it done. I could not believe it. Broncos' D was tired. Would love to have another shot at the Giants. Hey, I remember the 39-20 Super Bowl shellacking like it was yesterday.

I will take a wait and see approach to the Giants. I'm not buying them as contenders just yet. Although, if Coach Andy does not get his head out of his rather large ass the Giants look good enough to take the division title.
