I have to admit airsoft is fun. I've tried it before, but Xball is physically more faster, challenging, and fun. You can't really put airsoft and "tournament" paintball in the same catagorey. Airsoft is more combat, tactics, war sylish games. Tournament paintball is played as a sport. It's already on ESPN.

Lol you took that pretty well....Xball might be a little faster, but I wouldnt go as far as to say its more challenging...try staying alive in a 30 person firefight in an airsoft game, now THATs a challenge!

Try breaking out 50 ft to a air bunker, while back players are shooting ropes of paint at 15-20 balls per second, while you're basically running right into the stream of paint.

Nah, I think JTp8ntball97 has you beat on that one.
Staying alive in airsoft isn't all that hard, and the same can be said about paintball (in certain cases), however JTp8ntball97's example seems pretty darn challenging especially when you're running right into a stream of paint.
I must say, both sports are a lot of fun, but when it gets down to it, I side with airsoft. I'm not going to go as far as to say that paintball sucks, I'm just saying that I like the realism (milsim) associated with airsoft.

Airsoft is much like paintball in that your main objective (unless stated otherwise) is to eliminate the other team. However, unlike paintball, airsofters use realistic replicas of real steel firearms and shoot six milimeter plastic BBs.
The mainstay of airsoft is also its downfall. Unfortunately for those who play airsoft in legal areas and respect the sport, there are many cases of young children and teenagers brandishing airsoft replicas in public. Many teenagers and younger children have been wounded or killed due to the realism of the replicas. Simply put, it's hard to distinguish between a replica and a real steel firearm from 20 feet away, and Law Enforcement Officers are dead serious when they tell you to disarm yourself.
These cases have also lead to many state-wide bannings of airsoft. Infact, Florida is considering banning it, too.
I hope that answered your question. If not, just tell me and I'll be glad to elaborate!
EDIT - By stating the above concerning what is used in Airsoft, I am not trying to downplay paintball. I am simply making known the major differences between the two sports.

Ok just from reading that I would much rather play paintball then. What kind of equipment do you use when you play airsoft? I like the realistic aspect of it but I dont think I would enjoy getting shot by a plastic BB. And thx for explaining.

Actually, you would think getting shot with a bb would hurt more than a paintball, but the opposite is true. The only time an airsoft bb really hurts is when your very close to the shooter and on bare skin. In the same case with a paintball, it hurts more, and leaves a big welt.

Ive played tournament paintball for about 3 years now, insanely cool

but ive also played airsoft about 8 years ago and enjoyed that too.
i dont think you can compare the 2 "sports" just enjoy them for what they are. otherwise you will end up with a discussion like; karate is better than WT, or my dad can kick your dads ass.........DEAD END

A stock Automatic Electric Gun (seen here and here) fires anywhere from 250 feet per second to 350 feet per second (with some exceptions).
That said, at a lengthy distance, the impact of the BB is similar to being flicked by someone. At closer ranges (within 10 to 15 feet), the force is stronger, which results in a harder impact. This stronger impact can lead to little bruising or broken skin.
Of course, don't let that turn you away from airsoft. In all actuallity, I believe paintball to be worse in terms of marks being left after getting shot (for lack of a better phrase... I didn't want to say paintball hurts more). But, as with all things, it depeds on the distance.
The equipment we use varies from player to player, or from team to team (if team-wide uniforms are selected). As for myself, a majority of my gear is made by High Speed Gear Inc. I also use a lot of military surplus gear.
In terms of face/eye protection, I use Wiley-X PT1's. Again, this is dependent on where you play and who you play with. A lot of airsoft/paintball fields require sealed whole-face protection (mainly a paintball mask).
Airsoft cannot be owned by paintball, and paintball cannot be owned by airsoft. They are two different sports. I respect both sports, but side with one due to personal preference.

 well put
In denmark(where i play PB) we're usually allowed to only 2 layers of thin clothing, hell some knee and elbow pads are banned due to "bounce factor" . also, i play front(read psyco assault player) so i usually get hit or "marked" within the distance of 10 meters and often more then one shot...painfull yeah but not so much that u cant get used to it
