NFL (No-more Focking Lawyers), please
Is it just me or is anyone else tired of seeing every other headline about NFL players getting arrested for one thing or another ...
1. Steelers rookie WR Holmes arrested again
2. Browns RB Droughns apologizes for arrest
3. Legal case settled, but Redskins' Taylor still has an attitude
4. Maurice Drew: Will Miss Workouts Due to Legal Issues
5. Henry pleads innocent to latest charges
6. Charges against Haynesworth now dismissed in second county
I'm a huge fan of NFL and College football but these guys are just way out of control. Do we need to bring back Susan Powter to STOP THE INSANITY?!
(susan powter reference thanks to re-runs of fresh prince of bel-air)

I think that most of these guys believe that they are bigger than life. They have been raised to play football, probably loved it when they were younger. They hit the big time and are viewed as football gods. Then they can do anything they want.
I love watching football but get really sick about how great these guys think they are. Then they want a ton of money to do it.
Makes me think of that scene from Mr. Deeds when he fires the quarterback for being an asshole.

I think that's a big part of the driving force as to why they do what they do. They have all this money - though they claim it's not enough to feed the family - don't know what to do with it, attract less than dignified "friends" and then end up getting themselves into trouble.
Give me the league minimum to play and I'll work my ass off to be the best player I can be. I loved playing and I'd do anything to kick one of those felons out to the curb and take their locker space.

NFL League Minumum ~ $300,000.00 per year.
Hell! I used to play football just for free, and these guys cry about not getting their extra million-dollar signing bonuses? Football dominated my life for 12 years, I would go and be anyone's personal tackling bag for 6-digits a year!

Oooooooohhhhhh - I wasn't intending any disrespect towards lawyers, just that I would rather see the players on the field instead of in court ...

Funny that this thread still lingers ... I was reading this weeks Sports Illustrated (with Ray Lewis on the cover) and the article about him says how he has become such a religious man and how much he has changed since his 2000 stabbing incident outside that club in Atlanta.
eqpfunk, i give you this advice - don't read that article cuz you'll just want to rip someone's head off. It is all such a load of bulls---. Lewis preaches to the churches in Baltimore sending the message out to treat women like queens and then goes and blesses his teammates with his consecrated oil. It's such a farce anymore to consider these guys role models.
Is Sir Charles Barkley the only one who really gets it?
