NFL Draft
Anyone have any thoughts on this... this is the first year I have really followed it...
I really have a vested interest in it this year, because as a Georgia Tech alum, I don't get to see many great stars come from our school... Of course I am talking about Calvin Johnson, and he is probably the best overall athlete in the history of GT (maybe with the exception of Bobby Dodd)...
He won't go first in the draft, because the early draft teams have more pressing choices than receivers... Looking like Jamarcus Russell and Brady Quinn will go earlier, since good QBs are a necessity for the them... But it would be so great if Atlanta could trade up and get him... CJ spent 3 years making a subpar quarterback look good, he could do the same for Mike Vick...
Click my sig to see highlights, check his stats, but pay special attention to the 2 catches at 1:12... He constistently made these plays throughout his career at Tech, in double and triple coverage... If he has even a halfway decent QB to work with, he will dominate the NFL...

all I know is the Raiders and the Cowboys will find some way to botch their picks, they always do, just like the Texans last year taking anybody but Young or Bush... wtf?

Yup, that made no sense to me either... They could have had a genuine superstar either way, and instead they got... nothing...
I have looked over so many mock drafts by now, I can 't keep up with them... I still gotta think Oak will pick a QB, be it Russell or Quinn.... and I don't think Adrian Petersen is going to go as high as everyone is predicting...
There are still a couple of weeks for some trades to happen, which could throw a monkey wrench into the whole machine... but what do I know...

yeah, they got rid of the wrong people again... should have kept briggs and jones and got rid of grossman and benson... we shall see, yet, I expect nothing. other than they will find some way to screw it up. The Jets playoff chances just went up however.

Moss will hopefully go to the Packers. I really want Favre to be a contender before he retires... here is my top 5
1. Jamarcus Russel (LSU QB) going to Raiders
2. Brady Quinn (QB ND) going to Lions
3. Adrian peterson (RB OKU) going to Browns
4. Calvin Johnson (WR GT) going to Buccaneers
5. Joe Thoams (OT WU) going to Cardinals
As you can see, I agree with Kip.

I hope the raiders pass on Russel and go for Brady Quinn. He is smarter and has plenty of arm strength for the weapons the raiders have. Smart QBs win games not big dumb ones.

hmmmm... we all know that Vince Young didnt do too well on those "tests" but when it comes to football smarts and managing a game he did alright, I think Russell is a better QB anyway, just look at his track record in big games as opposed to Quinn, if it wasnt for Smarzdja saving his ass all the time he wouldnt be half the QB he is. I just hope your Raiders dont fock it up like they always do there Joker.

"With the first pick in the 2007 NFL draft, the Oakland Raiders select Joe Thomas, offensive tackle from Wisconsin"
he can sit there right next to robert gallery...
if they take quinn over russell, they will be screwing themselves... quinn hasnt played well in any big games and luckily won some -- mich st. - need i say more

Yah Mav, I have been watching this on and off all day...
Jamarcus to Oakland like everyone expected, but is he really good enough to turn that team around?
My boy CJ to Detroit, I can't believe they picked another wideout... I really thought someone would trade up to get him... But don't worry about Stanton, even if he sucks ass, CJ will make him look better than he is...
I guess the big story is Quinn dropping to 22... But I think Cleveland did pretty good overall to get Thomas and Quinn in the 1st round, even if they had to trade out the 1st pick next year...
As far as my Falcons, I am kinda bummed they didn't get Landry at safety... And now also the good receivers like Rice, Jarrett, Meachem are gone... I guess we are stuck with another year of Vick running and fumbling the ball all over the place...
Edit -- as much as I was hoping Atlanta would somehow trade up to get Calvin, I guess its for the best that they didn't.... As one of the so called 'experts' said earlier today, his talent would be wasted with a QB like Vick...
