2008 NBA Champs - Boston Celtics
It's been a long time since we've been able to say that. Boston played awesome last night beating the LA Lakers in Game 6 and clinching the NBA Championship Title.
I think we need to start calling this area, New England/Boston "Title Town". Our Boston Red Sox were the 2007 & 2004 World Series Champs and currently are atop the AL East standings, the New England Patriots's have won three Super Bowls and now our Celtics are the kings of the NBA. If we could get our hockey team to perform a little better we would run the table on the major sports.
Please no hate posts. I am merely pointing out who won the NBA Finals. I am not making fun of or belittling any other franchises.

I hate NBA basketball, but I tip my hat to the Celtics. I heard on the radio this morning that they only won 24 games last year. And apparently they are only the 3rd (or 4th) team in NBA history to win it all after a season where they did not make the playoffs??? Is that right, or did I hear that wrong?
So... Congrats to all you Celtics fans out there.

Yes, I beleive they are the first to go from worst to first or something close to that. The things that did it were the acquisition of Kevin Garnett & Ray Allen to compliment Paul Pierce. That lineup was similar to the original Big Three of Bird, McHale & Parrish from the '80's. I too am not an NBA fan, my wife loves it and I endured watching the games because it put her in a good mood. My sport is hockey. I only wish that the Bruins could attain that X factor and go deeper in the playoffs. It is truly amazing living in the Boston area these days. I tell my kids how luck they are to be seeing this happen while they are young and impressionable. My generation grew up on the phrase "there's always next year" when it came to the Red Sox that and "Bucky F-ing Dent!!". Nowadays the kids expect Sox management to do whatever it takes to make them Champions again.
17 World Championships for the Celtics - the most in the NBA. Congrats!!

Congrats Celts fans!
Being a Mavericks fan I could never root for the Lakers, so I was for the Celts by default. As the series progressed though, It became easier and easier to pull for them until I got to really, really like the Celtics. They were very fun to watch...and seem like a good group of guys.
I hope they get to stay together for a while.

Husband Rule # 2: When the wife is in a good mood, everyone is in a good mood.
Of course we all know what Husband Rule # 1 is... Learn to say these phrases in your sleep... "Yes dear" and "I'm sorry dear".

loved it. I'm a philly guy, and as such despise that fool Kobey Bryant. It was a pleasure to watch that debacle. Boston embarrased those wimps from LA. Kobe was Shaq's Scotty Pippen, thats all. He'll never win a title as the team leader.

Laker fan for 30+ years I have to admit that game last night was EXTREMELY tough to watch. But hey hats off to the Celtics... and impressive and overwhelming performance. One thing I have to say though is it's always interesting to hear from all the Laker haters out there. I don't think I've ever rooted against someone or a team. But I get it all the time with the Lakers. I always just laugh and realize it's just jealousy coming from less successful franchises, but with the Celtics I can't say that... they are the only team with more championships and tradition than the Lakers.
Some of my favorite memories are of the Larry Bird - Magic duals in the 80's. I hope they can meet again next year... with a different result of course.
Congratulations to the Celtics - NBA CHAMPS

Like Wil, I hate the NBA, but I respect the Celts for going from worst to first so quickly. That's good leadership. I like KG as well so I am glad he got his ring! Hats off to the Celtics!

I am glad to see Paul Pierce get a ring, but I cringe at the sound of the cheers from the Bandwagon Boston Sports Fan.
