I'm sorry, but IMHO this chick is basically the Anna Kournikova of golf.
Sports News - 18-year-old Michelle Wie to play on PGA Tour again
I mean, everything she does makes headlines. I don't think she has ever won an LPGA tournament. She has never made the cut in her over-hyped attempts to play with the men.
At least female Indy racer Danica Patrick is competitive.
It's annoying. I'm just sayin'

You guys are right on the money. Everybody, from the media to her family annointed her as the next big thing in golf before she developed her full potential. When you have that much talent as a teenager, alot is thrown at you. Even to this day, I don't think she is mature enough to handle the expectations that were placed on her.

I think it's "Daddy Dearest"
Can you imagine the nads it takes to suggest that your daughter should play a PGA event the week after she has been DQ'D because she forgot to sign her score card.... BUT
Does anyone else see how strange this is, signing the card is a basic premise of golf at any tournament level, and after all this time she simply forgets? She hasn't earned enough for an exemption next year, she's in second place in a tournament and yet forgets to sign the card????? So she's risking Q school next year, Oh wait, Stanford will be in session at that time so it'll be a conflict, but she forgets to sign the card? And with only a few tourney's left she opts to play PGA (any money earned will NOT apply to LPGA standings) instead of working on her earnings in the LPGA.....
Do I detect a little "rage against the machine" (the machine being DADDY)
HMMMMMM, I wonder.........

Her parents pushed her, and they've mismanaged her, but who wouldn't want to be making big money in your sport of choice at 16? Her golf game may have been better served had she competed more at the junior level and the regular amateur level, where she would've learned to handle the pressure of being in contention. Her first pretty full year out on the LPGA tour, she played really well and contended, but didn't win -- would've finished in the top ten on the money list had she been an official member of the tour. Then came the expectations of winning and she wasn't able to get it done. Her wrist injury was a problem, but since her sponsors wanted her out there playing, she didn't give herself enough time. And since she turned pro, she can't play college golf -- so she's stuck trying to appease her sponsors by playing wherever she can.
There's no excuse for her not signing her scorecard. But knowing not only the Rules of Golf, but the rules they have on tour is part of being a professional. Instead of celebrity agents (no athlete in their right mind should ever have anything to do with William Morris), she should get a golf manager to drum into her what her responsibilites are out there. Getting a former tour player as a caddy might help, too -- someone who really knows the ropes as a player. There must be at least one guy around 45 years old who had a few years on Tour biding his time until he can join the Senior Tour who'd be willing to work with her a little. But that depends on Dad -- who seems to be all short-term gratification with a load of paranoia thrown in.
Maybe she should try to get some play on the Duramed Futures Tour -- I don't know what their rules of qualifying are -- but if it's anything like the Nationwide Tour, she can play her way into regular tour events that way.
If she spends some serious time with Dave Pelz or one of the other short game gurus, she can win on the ladies' tour. But she'd need to get really serious about practice -- and you know, she's in college, she had a regimented childhood with her parents watching every breath....
What's the worst that can come of this -- she'll be a washed up former tour pro with $20 million in the bank.

Head did get bigger than her height. Maybe having to go to Q-School brought her down.
