Phillies Win!!!!
I have something to cheer about this fall as the Phillies go to the World Series for the first time since 1993...
Phillies 5, Dodgers 1 - MLB - Yahoo! Sports

Now I'm rooting for the Rays (no offense to you Red Sox fans out there but I love seeing different teams in the playoffs).

I would never put any smack down on Brewers fans. Robin Yount is one of my all-time favorite baseball players (up there with Mike Schmidt and Cal Ripken Jr).

All three of those guys you just mentioned are awesome. Congrats on the Phillies. I am a SF Giants fan, so I can't ever root for the Dodgers. I like a lot of players in the Phillies, though, so it is easy to go for those guys.
I'd like the Rays to pull it off in the AL. It's great to see what those guys have done this year.

Congrats to the Phillies!!! If the Rays take care of business tonight and don't lay an egg like my Indians did last year this will be an awesome world series. The Rays and the Phillies both have great bull pens and each game should be a battle. I'm looking forward to watching that if the Rays get there, but you can never count Boston out.

Congrats Will and your Phillies! I remember watching them in the Mike Schmidt days. He's from Dayton so there is a big following here. Also love Robin Yount and the Brew Crew. Do they still have a giant beer mug in the outfield or did they kill that with the new stadium?
Hate any team Manny plays for! Not really a big fan of the Florida baseball teams as they have such fair weather fans AND Tropicana Field is the UGLIEST stadium in baseball! Getting sick of the Red Sox as well because they're the new Yankees.

Nope, in a move of political correctness ( which seems especially idiotic to me in a park named after Miller brewing) MADD, Mother's Against Drunk Driving asked that it be removed in the stadium change because it sent the wrong message to kids.... Now bernie still slides, but he lands on a platform and waves a flag. I really miss the suds dive....Nostalgia...
And Robin Yount is as much a gentleman as he was a player, when Yost got fired, Dale Svuem was appointed interim manager and wanted Robin to be his bench coach, before Yount would accept he called Yost ( all three are freinds) to make sure that it was ok. In today's money before all sports market, who even extends that sort of courtesy.... Yup Robin Yount is one of baseballs class acts...

Joe Carter ruined my childhood!
i was 12 when he hit that homer and Philly hasnt been anywhere near a championship since. maybe in the superbowl in 2005, but that game was further apart than the 24-21 score indicated.

have faith!
hamels has been lights out, meyers has only had like 2 bad starts since being called back up, moyer (though getting shellacked in his 2 post season starts) is due to pitch well, and blanton will pitch 6 and give up 2 or 3 runs and turn it to the pen (which was tops in the NL). Lidge is lights out. and the pitching was supposed to be the weakness!! Their team ERA was ranked 6th in all of baseball and they just beat the crap out of #2 (LA) and #4 (Milwalkee). Though TB is #3.
they have the last 2 MVPs, one of which led all of baseball in HR and RBI. the 3,4,5 hitters combined for 111 HRs and close to 350 RBI. Jason Werth, who platooned in RF for the first half of the season, still ended up with 24 HR and 64 RBI. They also were far and away the best running team in the league with a stolen base % of 84%
fact of the matter is, regardless who the Phils play, I think they can win. They have a lineup that 1-6 is very tough (Rollins, Victorina, Utley, Howard, Burrell, and Werth) and when Dobbs is in, he is a solid bat. Ruiz is the worst hitter on the club and he had a fairly descent NLCS batting .313 from the 8 hole. So they got a tough lineup, they got very good pitching and they got a curse. and its all the rage to break curses all of the sudden
Philadelphia Phillies - 2008 World Series Champions
I like the way that sounds, can't wait until wednesday

Oh I would bet a million dollars (if I had it) that there will be rioting in Philly if they win it tonight. There was rioting in Penn State this past weekend and that was just 1 game... not even a championship game. Sports fans can be a-holes sometimes.
And yes I am feeling good about the Phils tonight with Hamels pitching and Ryan Howard finally hitting. Last night was awesome to watch.

It ends tonight. Phillies are on a roll and the Rays are a mess. Hamels will be the MVP.

yup Wil, It's the weirdest thing in sports. Your team builds a winner and rises to the top so the first thing that comes to these a - oles minds is...
"wow, this is great, lets burn something!!!!!
Rest easy in the thought that these are not the real fans, just a bunch of thugs capitolizing on the good cover of a large crowd to get really juvenile. happens here in Madison at the university every year during Halloween....Doesn't even take a badgers win. They start climbing the street poles to bend them over. I digress. Hope all goes well, Philly wins, and the fans keep there heads...
