Default groin injury

My son tore his groin- alot of scrotal swelling- very painful and he's unable to move much- anyone with experience out there? CT and Ultrasound are negative for testicular injury, but he's hurting pretty bad. Swelling is taking a long tie to go down- any tricks?
Thanks

god ..he must have made shit of it . It sounds bad buddy. I tore my groin but never like that. Im no physio but i find that anti-inflammatory medication is great for easing pain and taking away swelling . You could also try icing it for 15 mins at a time . Diafene is a great anti-inflam(75 mg) (the 50mg ones are a bit too weak) ...you can get by prescription in any chemist ..other than that i dont know what to tell you. Best of luck with it

Thanks, bud, I'll ask about the antiinflammatories- hes been on percoset fora week, nasty stuff. He's getting a followup CatScan tomorrow, to rule out a dead testicle- for you watchers out there, I've learned that six hours is the critical time for a testicular torsion- after that, the tissue starts to die- if you suspect a torsion, get to the ER right away, get an ultrasound- could save the jewels...

Well, its three weeks now and he's out of the woods. Torn groin drained alot of blood into the scrotum- hematoma is still there, but shrinking- anti-inflammatories actually inhibit the healing process, went to Tylenol for the pain. WIth that much swelling in the groin, skin infections became a concern- added acidophilus to the diet, used vinegar/sitz baths for the skin, ice for the swelling, and coconut oil for skin care- coconut oil has antifungal properties- all this worked great- also took megadoses of Protease, which has helped disolve the hematoma-
Now, groin stretches, gentle running and easy lifting has resumed-

In hindsite- mistake was to not ice groin and scrotum immediately- (although ER nurse said it wouldn't help). It would have minimized the swelling- which was the main source of pain and slowed the recovery.

Hope this story helps someone.....
