Default bruised tailbone

Hey guys, once again i have a bruised tailbone. Right beneath my lower back where my butt begins theres this swollen bumpy part which i figure is my tailbone! problem is, i've gotten these pains from doing nothing that may prompt bruising it! i havnt been in any contact sport within the past month, i havnt fell anywhere within the last 2 months! and a few weeks back i got the same pain and still i didnt do anything that prompted the injury. i've had maybe 4 or 5 in the past half year for no appearent reason, can anyone give some sort of explanation for this?

There are a lot of possibilities. It could be a repetitive stress issue, where you are doing enough reps of some exercise that it is making tissue feel bruised. Are you getting any discoloration or mottling in the bruised area? It may be that you have a disc that is very slightly compressed putting pressure on a nerve. There may be a cyst in the area. It is a common area for cysts. Do you ride a bicycle? Could it be the seat? What sort of work out regimen do you participate in? Do you snore? Your girlfriend/wife may be kicking you when you are sleeping to make you change position. There are too many possibiities without knowing more information. Examine yourself and your habits in detail and you should find more clues to the source of the problem.

i apologize for not being specific originally! currently, first and foremost...i am not working out....nor do i run on a constant basis at the moment. I did not run or participate in any physical activity prior to this beocming a problem. Second...i sleep by myself, so my girlfriend/wife cant be the cause of this lol. nope...i do not ride a bike. in response to the hurt disc comment....i have somewhat minor lower back problems which act up when participating in a activity which requires excessive bending of the back but i have had these problems for some years now and this bruised tailbone issue has never been a problem

Default Try a Variety of Things

Try different ideas until you find something that helps. It may be that as you have matured and your pelvic girdle has widened that you are compressing a nerve. Try sleeping with a pillow between your knees. It is a common treatment for lower back complaints that is widely known.

Try some lower back and upper leg stretching exercises. Buy "Stretching" by Anderson. There are millions of copies in print and it is about $25. There are a variety of exercises in that book that will be of use to you throughout your life. See a doctor, chiropractor, or physical therapist for recommendations on specific exercises.

Have you tried icing your tail bone area? If so, how is the injury affected by the cold temperature? Is it a circulation issue? Is it helped by putting heat on that area instead? Lots of things to play with here.

What other suggestions does everyone else have?
