Default Shoulder grind

I don't know where else to put this question because it neither hurts me physically, and I don't need any recovery from it. Apart from being able to "crack" nearly every part of my body, when I roll my right shoulder like you were doing shoulder circles, this grind happens. It only happens sometimes, and only on the last quarter or so of the circle. Any ideas what this could be?

Again it causes no distress unless I keep doing it, so I just don't do it.

Hello!!

I got exactly the same noises comming from my body. And because i started having pains everytime my right shoulder "cracked" i checked if up with my doctor. And discoverd that it depended on two things.

The not-painful cracking sounds comes from cartilage that on some persones forms inside the joints. (nobody seems to know why and it is not dangerus in any way).

The painful cracking comes from the tendon/strings that because of a weak or overstretched muscle jumpes in and out of its natural position. (sharp pain simutaneous to the crack, results after a while in a inflamed string - painful like hell)

Try doing the cracking motion ten times, if it stops cracking after that its just the cartilage, if its just gets more painful its the strings.

OBS - the muscles that holds the strings in place are Not the one you pump in the gym.

yep there are exercises to help the rotator cuff. Basically lie on a bench on your side and using a dumbell weight keep your elbow tight to your side and lift the weight up, should be a lite weight with high reps. it helps, also pullovers help.

Yes thats a deasent exercise for one of the main muscles, but unfortnatelt it has little or no effect on the smal stabilisating muscles that holds the strings in place.

For exampel, your biceps string are attached roughly on the spot where your collarbone meets your shulder blade. On its way from the biceps muscle to its attaching position its held in place by two tiny muscles on the front of your shulder.

So just to work the muscles holding your biceps string in place requiers four exercises.

And there are five main muscles attached to the rotatorcuff, each held in place by up to three smal stabilitating muscles.

Pleace check up http://www.axelina.com its a Swedish training-guide that containes 158 exercises for recovery training of shulders.
(sorry for the strange link-posting but for some reasons i got a error-message everytime i try to post a link)

The MRI may not reveal anything.

However, this is the most sound advice I've read in this thread. See a professional. It could be a number of things.

^ How do you even get something wrong with your shoulder that would require an X-Ray to find? I mean, I've never had a shoulder injury before or anything in the area. I just don't understand.

Simple, just lift a Volvo XC90 wheel without thinking about what you are doing.

And i my case it took both cat-scan and a ultra-sound to find what was wrong. The biceps string had split up in two parts...... (DON`T try this at home folks)

I've seen a man's bicep roll up into his shoulder while doing a simple preacher curl.

It happens. Such is the nature of sports.

Many times, injuries incur over time. I tendon may have a mild tear, which could be mistaken as muscle sorenss. Most of us lift even through soreness which, of course, will only irritate the tear more. Eventually, SNAP!
