forearm PAINNNNN
yo guys, i have recently been getting a lot of pain mostly around the wrist (the wrist pain is the worstttttttttttt), and all the way down to my elbow (the forearm) on both arms. it only comes around when i do a workout like Bench and Preacher curls, and it stays with me my whole workout so its a constant pain, i don't know if this is form strain from all the weight put on them or just from soreness. i take EFA everyday and sometimes i will take some flaxseed oil cuz i hear that helps with join issues, but it still hurts BAD! so just wondering if anyone has this problem, and can anyone help me get it to stop hurting, any advice well be more than welcome. thanks.
on a side note, i don't take any kind of pain relief or anything like that so thats not a option.

I used to have the exact same problem.
I used to get pain in my forearm whenever I curled with an "EZ" bar...I still dont really know why, perhaps my form was off.
I just switched to a straight bar when doing curls and it seemed to help, I also widened my grip too.
I never got the pain when I was benching, so I dunno what to say on that.
Make a few changes and see if it helps at all.
Goodluck!

don't grip the bar to hard, when you do it puts too much stress on your arm/wrist. only grip it enough so you don't drop it.

You can also try wrapping your hands/wrists and see if that helps.

Seems like tendonits to me. Expecially after you said it travels down your arm to your elbow. Look up "tennis elbow" in google and see if that sounds right.

yeah as much as that sounds like its what i have.. i don't think it is, just becuz it hurts more a the wrists, VERY MUCH MORE!, when i looked up tennis elbow it sounded like the pain was more at the elbow, and travels up. i've changed up my programs so it doesn't hurt as much anymore, and i'm gonna get those wrist wrap things. but thanks for the comments.

Tendinitis certainly isn't limited to just the elbow. Tendinitis can occur anywhere there are tendons. I'm not saying that you have tendinitis but from the limited information I have read from you it could be a possiblity. Anyways here is a article about wrist tendinitis.
http://ergonomics.about.com/od/tendo...tendonitis.htm
"What Is Tendinitis of the Wrist?
Tendonitis of the wrist is an irritation and swelling of the tissue or 'tunnel' which surrounds the tendons of the thumb. Pain in the front of the wrist is a common symptom of tendonitis. Bending and extending the wrist is usually painfulh; there may be swelling in the wrist. If the hand is made into a fist with the thumb tucked inside and the pain gets worse the diagnosis is likely tendonitis.
Tendonitis of the wrist can be caused by biomechanical problems, injury to the arm, overuse, poor equipment and overuse. Inflammation of the wrist tendons happens often when someone starts a new activity or exercise.
If treated early, tendonitis can improve quickly. Steroid injection or anti-inflammatory medications can be used in most cases. More serious tendonitis may require surgery.
If you experience symptoms, the first thing to do is to alter the activities which caused the symptoms and let the wrists rest and recover."

well i woulda put my 2 cents in but powerhouse beat me 2 the punch. i personally think your wrists are were the whole problem originated from. out of curiousity list some of your forearm work you do to see if its just overtraining.
i personally have carpal tunnel syndrome starting in, and i have been able to eleviate the symptoms by cutting my forearm workout down. when you work with gripping things with your hands very tightly and continuasely for a living like i do you find that is too much work for the forearms and fingers.

well the work outs i do for my forearms are pretty slim. i do some farmer curls 3x15 and hammer curls (arm days) around 4x6-10, then i use the rope thing that has weight hooked on it at the bottom, so you have to like pull it up with just your forearms, it kills them. usually i do forearms about 2-3 times a week.

without actually seeing you workout and your form, one can only speculate. the "rope thing" as you put it will have a tendency to iritate your tendons on the backs of your hands and upper forearm if used with too high of weight. im taking it for granted your standing with arms outstretched and palms facing down and rolling the the cable up targeting the topside of the forearm. you didn't mention how many sets either on the exercise. since your targeting your forearms 2-3 times a week i suggest you give your forearms a break and dont work the upper portion for a while. although i am guessing that this might be what your describing. you didnt really pinpoint weither it was the whole forearm top and bottom or just one portion.
but regardless you have irritated them and do need a break. it would be nice to try and pinpoint wich particular exercise is causing the problem and adjust accordingly after healing. and it wouldnt hurt for you to further describe what your "farmers curl" is primarily how your holding the bar.

There was an armwrestler who worked his grip/wrists a lot(obviously its very important to have a strong grip/wrists in AW) and he developed "trigger finger". I'm not sure that is the technical name but his finger basically locked into place when it was bent. Long story short, he used his other hand to straighten it out and ripped his tendon in his finger.
I'm not saying this is going to happen in your case, when I read what you wrote it reminded me of it.
