Default slow calf recovery

It's been almost two weeks since I've worked out my legs / calves. Only the day following did I really have any sort of soreness in my calves, the regular post-workout feeling. They haven't been sore in any way since

But, when I go to run I don't even get a quarter of a mile before I'm starting to really feel it in my calves. I'm not in pain, but they just feel tired like I've maxed them out all over again.

I've ran three times since, and it's happened each time. 4 days after the initial workout, 7 days after, and 11 days after. Each time I've felt the same. But again, they feel completely normal during the course of the day with no soreness, pain, or lack of mobility.

This has really caught me off guard since I've never been limited by my calves during a run. Normally, in a long run I'd start to feel it in my glutes but that's about it.

I need to get them back to normal because this no cardio for nearly two weeks is really getting me down!

Sorry for the lack of info--

I've been running for about 2 years
I've found myself in the weight room only for the past 3 months.

I've gained about 5 pounds over the past month. (putting me only at 150lbs / 70inches)
i've been taking protein powder but am not on other types of suppliments
I don't know what an AAS cycle is so I'd assume the answer is no to that
I got new shoes about 4 months ago and they've been great. Nothing about my running has changed except for the past few times where it just didn't go well.

well when i run with my son at his pace wich is slower then mine i notice my shins (calfs) tighten like guitar strings untill i return to my original longer stride faster paced run (jog). thatt can be a factor in there to not running the pace you used to run. the extra five pounds and break inbetween running may have affected you more then you realize. i normally cant go more then a week or 2 without running and if i do i usually have to retrain the legs again because they lose there conditioning. the way you run may have a big impact on your calves also i run more on my toes then my heels and that will just kill off my calf muscles if out of shape quick. slower shorter paces put more impact on my shins as opposed to using my long legs and opening the stride up and forcing myself to land on my heels instead of my toes. i even walk on my toes more then my heels wich makes for a quiet stealthy walk i found out. there are a lot of variables that may be causing your calf stiffness. try reusing your older shoes and see if that helps out also if you still have them.
