Wish Me Luck
Ol' Bouncer is fallin' apart it seems. Although I'm still healing from the foot surgery, I'm going in the morning for an MRI for the knee on the same leg. I'm really hoping for " A couple of cortizone shots and you'll be good as new." kind of diagnosis. It's pretty strange. I can do leg presses, leg extensions and curls, but walking after sitting a little while, or walking thereafter without a limp? That's the hard part. I think I've aggrivated something in there trying to walk while I had a foot cast on.
Wish me luck. I have plans for the latter part of 2009, and I need to be healthy enough to train my ass off.

Best of luck to you Bouncer!
Surely if you keep on with the weight loss it will help with the knee and foot pain too, so keep at it and take care.

When you take the first step after getting up, can you feel a slight rub followed by a "rice crispie" kinda light popping? If so the miniscus may have a fraid edge and is binding in the joint. Again, not any kinda MD. just personal experience. I get cort. twice a year in the one joint. Fixes it up for a good while. Lotsa ice after leg days helps too... Good luck on a real diagnosis. You'll get there in the end, faith up!!!

A1, I feel a gravelly sound in the knee as I go down stairs, and I have some popping around the knee. Mostly, it's a constant pain in the joint and when my knee cools off-like in the morning and after I've been at my desk-it's become a real sonofabitch. I did the MRI this morning, now I get to wait for the doctor to respond in all of his wisdom and in his good time. I'm going to light a fire under this process in the morning. Ahh, patience.

I got the diagnosis today. No injury. Dr attributed it to previous strain on thee joint from football. Osteoarthritis. I was wondering if that was it. I'm doing tons of research. I'm going to manage it. I'm pissed off about it, but it's just another challenge.

I was hoping for something they could actually fix. I'm starting to understand the slogan, "Arthritis. I's not for sissies."

I just posted a new entry in my training blog about how I'm dealing with this new development. I'm supplementing my ass off trying to get a handle on this.

Update
I went this morning to my follow up visit after the MRI. As it turns out, I don't have osteoarthritis after all. There is a condition called chondromalacia, meaning my knee hurts? Looks like I'm off to an ortho surgeon after all.
I don't have a grasp of this yet, but my doctor says this is better than the arthritis. I guess the person who called me with the diagnosis was wrong in how they interpreted the MRI. I've bought alot of stuff that claims to help arthritis based of that phone call, but I guess it's still good news. We will see.

Yay! Glad to hear it man. I was with you on that previous diagnosis being BAD news. Like you, I had WAY rather have an ailment that is correctable even if it does mean surgery.
