Hand blister. Ignore it or wait?
Last month, I broke a bone in my hand and have not done much weight lifting since then. I used to have quite developed calluses on my palms before, but they have depleted over the past month due to my hand being wrapped in a cast...
I started back with the weightlifting again a week ago or so, but I got a blister on my hand on the spot my callus used to be as a result of trying to use the similar heavy weight as I used before.
I want to continue weightlifting as I am eager to get back into it, but now there is this issue...
Should I just ignore the blister or will it get worse if I do?
Thanks for any replies.

I'd just stick a pin in it and drain the fluid out and continue as normal. Once it's dried out some the loose skin should come off without a problem, then keep chapstick on it to keep the area from cracking. That's what I'd do but that's me.

You're just going to have to wait it out. Get some good gloves to help prevent this in the future.

Unless blister so tense as to be painful, generally a bad idea to lance. The surface layer of skin will be dead but the base of the blister will be raw new skin. So on lancing, that delicate new skin at the base will tend to dry out and hurt. More importantly, the surface of the blister is still acting as a protective barrier, lancing therefore poses a (small) risk of infection occuring.
Are there really no other exercises you can think of doing for a few days whilst the blister settles ?

I'm sure your upper body will be fine if you take only a few days off to let the blister heal.
So in the meantime while you avoid any upper body exercise that might deteriorate the blister, use that as an opportunity to squat more.
But if you insist on using your hand, then do not lance it. Put vaseline or neosporin on it, then a large bandaid, then sports tape, and then a glove. I've had my share of infections, one that actually sent me to the ER, and gyms are not the cleanest spots on the planet either. To think of it, they are pretty f* disgusting.
So I'll err on the side of caution and tell you not to be a dumbass and allow the thing to heal. How long can a blister possibly take to heal? A few days at most (if you are smart and take care of it.) A few days off upper body won't hurt you, and if you want to keep weight lifting, then there are the squat rack and the leg press waiting.
Good luck!

geez! Its a freakin blister! unless you have AIDS or diabetes it doesn't matter what you do, it will eventually go away. If you are having trouble lifting thru a blister on your hand maybe you should take up knitting.
