Marathon Runner
Hello everyone, I am a 42 year old marathon runner (completed 10 marathons and going for 11th this year). But I try to do weight training whenever I can. Usually train at home; too lazy to go to the gym. Here's my picture...

Uh, dude, what's with the "Skinny Guy" moniker? You look d@mn buff to me. You're packing a lot of muscle for a 10 time marathoner. Do you compete in anything else? BTW, if you've completed 10 marathons, I suspect "lazy" is not in your vocabulary. "Too busy" I might believe.

You're pretty jacked for a marathon runner. You must be doing your homework regarding weight training. Welcome!

Hi Daniella,
Thank you for the compliments. I am indeed very skinny compared to Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ronnie Coleman and many other bodybuilders. No, I don't compete in anything else. I am just a recreational athlete exercising to keep fit.
One reason why I prefer to work out at home is that I like doing calisthenics and bodyweight exercises like pushups, crunches, and bodyweight squats and lunges. These exercises can all be done in the comfort of my bedroom. I also have two little pairs of dumbbells at home. I usually exercise with high reps and light weights which do not build big muscles. That's one more reason why I am so skinny.
Hope you can visit my website at http://www.geocities.com/raymondrjs and click on my marathon and weight training links under "Interests and Hobbies". There I describe my marathon experiences and my exercise philosophy.
Again, thanks for having the courage to look at my picture and for the compliments.
Raymond

Thank you. Maybe I am not lazy. But I just can't be bothered to go to the gym sometimes. Gyms are usually so crowded and I have to wait in line for the machines.

Thank you. My upcoming marathon is the Singapore Marathon this December. I have started on the first stage of my marathon training. Very soon, I'll be even more skinny as the marathon training progresses.
I hope you can visit my marathon page in which I describe my reasons for running marathons and my past marathon experiences which include 3 Honolulu Marathons. My marathon page is http://www.geocities.com/raymondrjs/marathonwhy.html
Again, thank you.

Thank you. Unlike many runners, I try to do some weight training for my upper body. I like to take the more balanced approach to exercising and fitness.
You can read what I do for weight training at my page at http://www.geocities.com/raymondrjs/bb.html
Again, thank you.

Excellent work, Raymond-- reps to you. I hope you will contribute to the Nutrition and Weight Training areas of EF! I am sure you have some good advice. This shot that he already posted tells me that he is doing something right!

Thank you. But nutrition wise, I am horrible. I don't consume any supplements at all, except for a multivitamin. I relay mostly on milk and soya bean milk for some extra protein. No protein powder for me.
And of couse, no steroids for me. Many years ago, I was offered steroids by someone but I declined it.

Here is a picture of me right after the Vertical Marathon in which I climbed 73 floors in 13 minutes 25 secs on Nov 2006.
Here am I right after the normal marathon of 26.2 miles on Dec 2006. Good thing I didn't need the ambulance even though I tripped 3 times during the race
