Ladies, how big is too big?
And noooo I'm not talking about that...I'm talking about muscles! My female friends are starting to tell me that I'm getting a bit too bulky, so I'm wondering what the female EF members think. What's a good amount of muscle, and when does it become, well...grotesque?

That's really going to wind up being up to the individual, isn't it? I wanted to originally get bulky but my wife said she didn't really find that attractive so I decided to compromise and do what she said .
Seriously though, you're going to get different opinions depending on who you ask. If you have a SO then that's who's opinion matters most.

Most women would find Blanka too bulky
What's your height/weight/body fat % ? How were you when you started to work out ?

big factor....you're height and body frame...
if your short with a small frame....and you wana get bigger...you'd just look like an umpa lumpa on steroids....if you get huge....
now, if your someone like LL cool J with a bit more meat...then you'll look in proportion.....

Thanks for the replies guys. But hey where are the EF women? Not a single one has answered? I've created quite the sausage fest of a thread here.

If you look like your avatar then you definitely should stop working out!
Other than that I can only agree with my predecessors: Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder.

Here is Liza's view.... Frank Zane's physique (circa 1978), Steve Reeves, Andrei Arlofsky (there ya go, eqpfunk!) ...those are perfect.
Jay Cutler? Gunther Schlierkampf (sp?) and ANY male national-level or pro bodybuider in the off-season?? DISGUSTING.
I like natural muscle, or the "appearance" of it

MAke sure when you compare or show off your muscles or so called bulkiness that you are showing off at the same bodyfat %. Kinda different showing off at 235 lb with 15% bf and 200 lb at 8% bf. But then again, it depends on the chick knowing you before you started getting big or some random running into you. IF you were skinny, girls that knew you before are going to react quite well (they imagine that you would even better and better since you are showing results right now). But if you ran into a new chick, she might not see what you went through and think you are like all average joes.
You kinda need to make a history clientel thing going first if you know what I mean. For example, non arnold fans usually think he was just big in the first place, lol! Good luck.

Thanks Liza, that's kinda what I thought and I have to agree! The Mr. Olympia has become a complete freak show. I remember watching Pumping Iron when I was in high school thinking how I would love to look like any of those guys. Now I don't think there is a IFBB pro I'd ever want to look like.
And it's not like I look like some freakazoid now, it's just that I've added about 15lbs of mass in the past 6 months plus some fat and I'm kinda bustin' outta my clothes. I'm only 5'8 185-190 so it's not like I'm hyoooge. I think it's just that I look a bit different especially around my shoulders, chest and neck. I'm sure I'll look less bulky when I cut some of the fat.

was just discussing this with a very close female friend. she is a tiny girl and finds larger guys less attractive. not only as a personal taste but the fact that it can make things a little impossible in the bedroom for smaller girls.
depends on who your trying to impress. i have always love frank zane's figure though she said thats way to big. even some fitness models are too big in many girls opinions. I actually have found that being too ripped can scare them off. look more like a reptile than a human! Still wont stop me going for the Zane look though

I think you'll find most women dont really mind! If you're huge, and a bit bigger than the likes then I'm sure its not going to change too much in her mind. Women hold the way men look at as a much lower priority than men do to women.

I like guys who are fit, but not too fit. I think bodybuilders are disgusting. I don't like the fact that they spend thier entire lives in the gym, that justs a turn off already. umm I just like a guy whos toned. I liked muscles, but just not really promenient ones. I don't if that makes sense what I just said lol....

I think it is all relative to the persons individual tastes really, there is no blanket answer to that one.

I think that's exactly what he was asking : what is YOUR individual taste on that matter...

Clothes make the difference.
I am sure you have a side of your wardrobe that you don't use - for me it's the clothes that make me look skinny. Certain clothes make me look bigger than I am some make me look smaller. I choose what to wear depending upon where I am going.

I don't think your description sounds like you have anything to worry about. You're talking about the perception of women who have known what you looked like before...they're making a comparison to something they had become accustomed too.

I Read An Article Somewhere That A Majority Of Women Find Brad Pitts Build To Be About What They Desire. They Didnt Want A Scrawny Guy But They Also Didnt Want A Overly Muscled Guy Either.
I Say Nothing You Do Will Make Everyone Happy So Do What Makes You Happy.

Why Do You Have To Put A Capital Letter At The Beginning Of Every Word ?
I FiNd It A lItTlE bIt AnNoYing.
You must have great marks in english composition exams :P
Anyway, about "how big is too big" when it comes to being attractive to the other gender, here's something to consider :
As you get more buff past a certain point, there's going to be more and more women turned off by your physique, however, those who are into big muscles are going to be more and more turned on, so you have to decide between :
1) having a physique that will turn on most women
2) having a physique that will turn off most women, but will act as real magnet to the remaining women
But unless you're on steroids I think there's no need to worry, and just train for yourself ! Women like men that act like themselves afterall
