2nd date idea
Hey, a thread not about how to get some oblivious girl to notice you... what a great idea!
ok, going on a 2nd date with a lady. im 27, she's 30... looking for suggestions, moneys not really an option, but we're not boarding a private plane or anything ridiculous like that... right now im going with dinner then to a bar with pool/darts. but im open to any other ideas some people might have...

ok...1st date is outta the way...u should be comfortable wit gurl n kno enough bout her that u dont have to rly "sit down n talk"...this date should be fun...shes older so im not sure wat kinda stuff shes into but id reccomend this: go on to ticketmaster.com n check out sports/theatre/concerts in ur area within next couple of days...this would be a fun thing to do, dinner n a show? or check ur local newspaper, not the paper paper but like a college paper kinda thing, they will tell u the best bars, hot shows in area, cool clubs/hangouts...if u wanna go towards a kiddy approach go to like a theme park...mini golf, go karts, batting cages...or go to a museum, an art gallery perhaps...

Never being a successful dater as a single guy, I may not be the best adviser. But maybe some of the lovely EF ladies can give some ideas for what they like for a 2nd date.

Actually your idea of nice dinner, then relax with drinks/pool/darts sounds really good for a second date.

my first dates always end up going on for years so i dunno for 2nd
Actually i thought the bar scene was bad until i read where you lived, then i realized being from the midwest myself, that's really all there is to do. Is she classy at all? Would a nice place with some outside lounge, heated of course, and a glass of wine together for a while instead of a bar? Not trying to insult, just get a feel of the situation. Some girls would find that stupid and boring.

These may not appeal to all, but I found these to be fun:
- Every Monday night (I think) there are free walk-in salsa lessons at the Clarendon Grill: The Clarendon Grill
- Up near Dulles Town Center, there's an indoor karting track. index
Pairing that with dinner could be unique.

Some of the best dates I've been on were the ones that started with dinner, and went from there....nothing planned, just whatever we felt like after dinner. Some of the worst dates have been overly planned and overly thought out.
What are HER tastes? Maybe ask her what SHE'D like to do for a 2nd date......shows consideration, thoughtfulness.....goes a long way in mybooks, but that's just me.

no worries. she had a glass of wine at dinner on date number one, but she doesnt seem like she would be out of place at a bar. i really think she wouldnt mind either

Was the first date dinner-based? (I like something a bit more low-key, though I usually don't consider the low-key thing to really be a date, so take that FWIW). If it was low-key, dinner's usually acceptable for #2, but I like to parse it up a little; tapas or something light, followed by another place that specializes in dessert and wine. Winter's gorgeous if there's an outdoor fireplace and infrared heaters.
If date one was already dinner, I've found that at some point during that dinner, she's almost always already mentioned what she likes to do. So the second date can be that, or something vaguely related to that. Finding out what she likes is a big part of date 1 - if we're able to talk about mutual likes, dislikes, and how terrible the other people in the restaurant are, date 2 is always looking good.
But I'd say go sleeveless regardless. Because those two tickets always get the goods.

yeah, date one was a cool little gourmet pizza place (Faccia Luna for those in the Arlington VA, Alexandria VA, State College PA, or Scranton PA areas. great place for a date with anyone, it was always on rotation when i was at PSU with my ex).
thats why i was thinking dinner and a bar with pool/darts. just because it gets us up and a little more interactive. but we arent going out til 7:30 and she is coming, so dinner is almost a necessity.
i was actually thinking of taking a button down shirt and cutting the sleeves off, this way im formal, but it also says i like to party, plus she gets to see my guns

I always like it when they guy is interested in what I like to do and normally a girl is not going to say 'go to paris' or 'buy a house' or 'bath in diamonds' so you won't have her taking advantage of your question - you ask, what do you like to do.....then set up the second date based on that. Girls love it when a guy likes to give them what they want, what they like........I have my faves for foods so when I am taken out to a place with food I know I will like its great. But maybe she is the type to say 'I like to try new places' or maybe she says shes easy going....then your idea is fine.
Not all girls like predictability, I do sometimes, most times....but not always so the key if if you are in tune and ask what she likes, you cannot go too wrong, unless you get to fancy........some guys like to ask what you like then they define it all wrong, take her literally if you can, if she is kind enough to be honest and clear......assuming she is not one of the those shy types.

that whole line was a joke right? I mean im from the midwest and larry the cable guy is love-able and all lol
this line resembles some Talledage nights, i like to think of Jesus in a tuxedo t-shirt so it says im formal, but it also says i like to party too

yeah, that was a joke. it was a mixture of a few different things
she ended up working late because her client showed up late, i had planned on going over to dave and busters (she mentioned she liked video bowling, plus they have a ton of other games that you can play against each other at) but i live in VA and it is in MD and kinda far for the time she ended up getting done. so i went with plan B which was dinner and pool. i guess it fun because she asked me if i wanted to go see this band she was going to see with her

Now I'm no expert... and since I have been married for 14 years the whole dating scene is a distant horrible (due to lack of success) memory for me... but when SHE asks YOU out for your 3rd date, things sound like they are going well.

I disagree mrrockhard123 - Women may love shopping (not all do) but rarely that early on (they'll take their girlfriends along who will give honest and useful opinions) - so unless you can impress with your knowledge of "A-lines", merits of vertical/horizontal/diagonal patterned lines etc - stick with "letting her go shopping" rather than "take her shopping". If she takes you shopping it's a test - do you loose interest after a mere 2 hours and yawn, do you give correct advice (hint: answer to "do I look big in this" is never 'yes' but neither is the correct answer 'no' - the former insults & the later is probably just flattery).
