Default Best workout in 10 years

Just wanted to announce that I've just run the best workout I've had in over 10 years tonight. I know it's kinda bragging, but I feel awesome and can't help myself. So shoot me.

There isn't really much to tell except that the conditions were perfect and the rout perfect. It was raining most of today with the temperature in the low 50's. When I went out for my run it had just stopped raining so the air felt super crisp and clean.

I started from my house intending to run an easy 5-6 miles at 8 minute pace. But, things quickly turned into something I haven't felt in years. For whatever reason my legs just kept going faster and faster untill I had the sensation of skimming over the pavement, barely touching with each step. Every time I saw a turn off that would take me back home, I just kept going on. I never stopped speeding up the whole way and by the time I was done I had covered 8.85 miles in 52 minutes. I walked for 10 minutes to cool down, did my cruches and pushups and stretched, then I went inside and watch an hour of the Looney Tunes Golden collection on DVD.

It was great and I wanted to share.

The only down side to all of this is that I did not run it with the stroller (containing a 3 and a 2 year old). But, I'm not fretting about it.

It's been since college that I've felt this good about a run (that was 10 years ago)

I don't really get the urge to run long distance using a fast pace unless im under a lot of pressure to get to a location rather quickly. Nice to see your enjoying running after all this time though.

Aww wow, congratulations!!!! I also love that feeling, and I love the feeling you get from exercise. It's cool when you find it easier because of all your hard work, that when u get to push yourself, and that is cool! I'm really glad to hear that you enjoyed yourself so much. Keep it up!!!

Every few years, I manage to end up with a workout that just gets better the longer it goes on. The feeling of working perfectly, jumping past plateaus, and extending what I had thought were limits . . . it's enough to motivate me for the next several years.

Congrats. Wish I could post some of those mile times .

my favorite is a 1600m breakdown speed workout. when i'm done i do hundreds. before i do carioga, power skip, crawls, speed drills. i wanna puke sometimes. when i feel good the rest of the day the satisfaction lasts all week, but only if i take a rest day the day after!
