The Official Trash Nike Thread
My favorite shoe of all time is the nike air zoom swift vapor. they're red white and silver, light as a feather, fit like a glove, and ran like a dream. did my pr at runsfm of all places in three o nine. so they were light, fast, and gave me plenty of support for 26.2. the problem was the air cell blew all the time. nike would never replace them either when i sent them back to the lab. i have three pairs now. one's blown after only twenty eight miles. i've had six pairs of these shoes. i love these shoes.

the air zoom miller is basically the same shoe but uglier (compared to my resplendent masterpiece), heavier, slower, and suckier. i have the 10/2 version and can't understand why they make me want to drive a suicide vbied into my feet after four miles of unadulterated pedi-pain torture. the 360 looks similar as if it were an homage to the greatest design nike has ever douched out. the 180 just about the same. i've never run the 360 or 180 so i'm interested to hear what people have to say. i've never used nike+ and i really wanna hear what people have to say about that, too.

the upshot
so the point is i'm addicted to the design-and-market juggernaut and have been unabashedly so until this moment of self-loathing epiphany. most of the shoes are feet ruining self destructive abortions and the shit costs a mortgage payment and is manufactured by third world slave labor. it's my guilty pleasure that i'm a runner and still love nike. i just posted this because i wanna see runner's true feelings about nike, the company degree bearing politcs-blogging volvo driving bastards love to give me a hard time about because their precious new balance and brooks are so superior. also if anybody's tried the 360, 180, or nike+ (with the ipod) i wouldn't mind a review.

I tried the 360 and it is the most comfortable shoe I ever had on my feet, I want one but I want to get one off ebay for cheaper. I need to save my $$$.
I'm not a runner thought just tried them on in the store and plan on buying it on ebay but will prob end up buying in the store since not saving much on e bay.

I don't know why the OP had issues with returning the shoes to NIKE and receiving a credit. They have always been quick to give a credit voucher for shoes that obviously had a defect. If running in a running shoe and the air pocket pops, then it is certainly a defect. I would recommend calling them here: 1-800-344-6453
Explain to them the issue and how you feel a shoe designed for running should last more than the equivalent to one race. Here are the terms from the NIKE site.
The following WILL NOT be accepted:
Footwear older than 2 years from the original date of manufacture. Any footwear returns exceeding the 2 year date of manufacture limit will be returned without inspection. The manufacturing date can be found on the tag (PDF, 15k) inside the shoe. If your shoe has the old tag, the first two numbers in the manufacturing date represent the year, the middle two numbers represent the month and the last two numbers represent the day. If you have the new tag, the manufacturing date is above the bar code and to the left.
Products Nike determines in its sole discretion to be free of any material or workmanship flaws.
Products evidencing excessive wear, misuse or alteration.
Size, fit, and style selection complaints.
Salesman samples
Returns from consumers residing outside the U.S.
I think they will work with you if you are persistant.

i used to like nike
before i started running that is
nike for me was just a comfortable shoe for everyday wear
and they looked cool :P
when i started running i used my old nikes.
not sure if it was the shoes but my freshman year was abysmal. pr was 25:20's and couldn't even run the second half of the season due to a weird knee/hamstring problem.
next season i switched to asics, felt alright, but i had shin problems. my trainer told me to go to a running store and they gave me a pair of brooks and arch supports and my shin problems were gone. i've stuck with brooks ever since.
my school's trainer doesn't seem to like nikes too much cause when my friend went in to get his feet checked (he had killer shin problems), she (my trainer) told him to stay away from nikes
i dunno why though
but i agree
nikes are flashy. i'd wear them but i'm afraid to switch from my brooks...
i'd also love to get a pair of pumas, but they don't fit my feet too well.
thus, the dilemma between fashion and fit :P

When I first started running, I ran on Nikes and I liked them. Then Nike completely abandoned their mid price, (80 to 150 dollar shoes) shoe lines by making the toe boxes so narrow, only a bird's foot would fit into them, and just making a completely inferior product. I suppose Phil Knight decided to concentrate Nike's R&D on developing butt ugly uniforms for the Oregon Ducks football team.
Now the only shoe that goes on this runner's foot has a big N on it. Pick a Nike shoe, and I'd bet New Balance makes the same shoe, but much, much, much, much better. Plus, a number of New Balance styles are made in the US. This is good for those of us who don't really want to pay 150 to 200 bucks for shoes that were sewn together by 8 year old Indonesian girls who worked 15 hours a day at 15 cents an hour.
I run in a lot of races throughout the year, and I've found I see a LOT more New Balance, Brooks, Saucony, Adidas and even Reebok, (horrible fitting monstrosities that they are,) than Nikes of late. I hear Nike makes great basketball and football shoes, but their runners lines are getting more and more inferior by the day.
Oh, and if you want to see some great prices on shoes and apparel, pay a visit to holabirdsports.com. Best prices I've seen in a while...

New Balance are very comfortable shoes, the 970 were the most comfortable ones of that brand I have owned. The 1007 is a cross trainer and was not very good, if you ask me.

Nikes don't work for my feet and I know other runners who say the same. It's just a personal comfort thing. I use New Balance and love them. Recently tried Reebok and got shin splints and went back to the New Balance ones and was fine. I'm sure they are all good shoes but our feet just respond differently to different shoes.
