Default Summer Running Training

I have to test for a mile time, 1/2 mile, 400, and 220 when I get back to school in the fall. I have never run consistently in my life. I have run a 6:50 mile before but clearly, I am a diver, not a runner.

I want to drastically improve my times. How should I approach this training?

Do lots of easy, longer distance for now, pace runs, and fartlicks later on in the summer. Salim12 made a post like this as well, check his out.
