Excessive Sleepyness
I didnt know where to put this one! At least if it's in the Wimminz section I can move it!
So I get 8 hours of sleep a night, exercise for about an hour 5 days a week, have a day job where I use my brain a lot and eat pretty healthy, drink lots of water, but I find myself battling to keep my eyes open alllll the time.
I dont know if its just normal or not, but its quite annoying!
I find it hard to stay away while driving to the gym in the mornings, while sitting at my desk at work, while driving home, once I get home, and then sleep like a rock for 8 hours like I've never slept in my life. I dont even get woken up by scary noisy possums anymore!
I dont really get it cause I'm healthy as, I'm not even overtraining. But I just constantly feel drained and exhausted! is it normal or something you should go to the docs about?

Go to your doctor and have them draw blood and check for Iron and red blood cell count. Both are needed to transport oxygen. Maybe your a tad anemic after all the health issues you've been dealing with. Easy enough to fix if that's what they find....

Agree with A1. Might even want a look at your H&H (hemeglobin/hematocrit) levels too.

Your workout schedule is similar to mine. Although everyone is different, this happens to me when I do not get enough calories.
Make sure you are not in calorie deficit, specifically since you are trying to build muscle. Add some sweet potato to your diet, for example. You can't utilise all the proteins you eat without enough carbonhydrates, anyway.
I am willing to bet good money you are not eating enough.
And, I agree, if it continues, see your doctor.

The Doctor thing is the best but one thought is... How old is your bed?
If your bed is worn out you my be sleeping but not getting a real deep sleep. Just a thought.

are you a heavy sleeper normally? like you can sleep through stuff? thats how i am and i found out i had sleep apnea. apparently i would stop breathing while i slept and when i woke up i was always tired. they did a sleep study on me and found out i stopped breathing approx. 30 times an hour. then i had surgery for it, which included taking my tonsils out and the hangy ball thingy out and a bunch of other stuff. now i sleep fine

When are you getting the 8 hours of sleep? I ask because for me, the benefit of 8 hours of sleep depends upon when the sleeping is done. For example, if I sleep from midnight until 8:00, it's not as refreshing as when I sleep from 22:00 until 6:00. It probably has some hormonal basis that I can't currently find documentation on.

The doctor sounds best.
I find that if I'm sleeping light, I'll take some ZMA. I find that the zinc in ZMA really helps me sleep really deep and I'll feel great in the morning.

You guys are SOOOO much legends.
And you all know me too well ^_^ heehee, but for once I'm eating enough! Trying to gain some delicous hamstring and calf muscle!
A1 was right on they money, I was being a bit anemic. I wondered why my face was such a different colour to the rest of me! hehe About 30 minutes after my first iron tablet, I felt 7 trillion times better.
Thanks guys you are life savers!

I got my bed for $99Au 7 years ago! One day when I'm rich I'll get one of those ones you can jump on and yet not spill wine... I'm pretty sure that means they're good! hehe

Usually I find sleeping really difficult, I cant usually turn my brain off.
I hope your operation went ok! It all sounds quite scary! I'm glad you're all better now!
