Question Weight loss pills

Does anyone know which diet pill has the best/quickest results? I want to lose weight fast for the summer, i'm trying to eat well but I am very overweight and want to take supplements, if only I knew the ones that actually work from the ones that don't because i've heard there's alot of fakes out there etc

if youre very overweight weightloss pills will not do much. . for a very overeight person who just starts working out usually they are able to lose more weight than others who are not as overweight as them. . or someone who has been working out for a while.

I think most or the people at one of the places I workout (Ballys) has more overweight people than not. WHen I see someone who needs to lose quite a bit of weight, I really have respect for that person who is in there. Heck, sometimes they can barely do simple exercises in the pool but at least they're out there DOING IT!

Pills are America's answer to what ails you (sarcasm noted?) You should learn to eat clean and do both weight training and cardio. The details of all of this can be further explained if you post some specifics about how you are right now, what you are doing right now (diet, workout, etc), and what your exact goals are. Good luck

Since you said that you are "very overweight", I'll just make this quick point...

If you have ever seen the show "The Biggest Loser" the first thing they do is get those people MOVING. Exercise is your friend. That alone will help you to get started. And once you see some results that way, you'll get more excited and motivated to do more and to get your diet in line. Note that when folks here refer to DIET, they don't mean "going on a diet" but rather making sure your food intake is healthy and meets your goals.

It is a lifestyle change that you are after... not some magic pill (that does not exist).

And like Toonces said... you have my respect for wanting to make the change. I know it's difficult to NOT be self-conscious, but think about this... anyone at a gym who would make fun of you is there for the wrong reason and deserves a swift kick to the genitals.

You will find that there are A LOT of very knowledgeable people here who are more than happy to help.

OK... maybe that wasn't such a quick point like I originally said. Ooops.

The most important step is the realization that it won't happen overnight, and it won't happen at all unless you are truely committed to the change. You've taken a good first step in comming here. In the year I've been seriously logging on i have lost 15#'s cleaned up my diet and feel great. It's not just the information here, it's the people, very supportive, non-judgemental people willing to help you, not ride you down.

Cogratulations on you decision, I wish you great success!!!!!

Same things as everyone above, diet + just getting into the gym you will see spectacular results.

I considered myself overweight when I first logged onto here and started going to the gym also. Depending on the time of day I was between 215 + 225 and ate pretty a pretty dirty diet. I was pretty self conscious at first, the guys I would work out with were all in way better shape than I was, but you just gotta keep at it. A few years in now I float between 170 & 180 and I've gotten a lot more muscle.

No one here will ever make fun of someone who's actively trying to get in shape, so on that could you give us some specifics? Body dimensions, height, weight. You say your trying to walk more. How far do you go? how often? what time? What'd you eat yesterday, be specific...

As for joining a gym the hardest thing to do is to join and start going. I kinda think gym phobia really comes from commercials, the only people in fitness centers advertise are skinny in shape people... that's the image they want to show to the world. Unfortunately it makes people like yourself who WANT to go to the gym self conscious thinking the gym only has skinny, perfectly formed people... yes gyms do have them, when I went to ballys as far as I can tell they are the minority, the bulk of the people are average to overweight just trying to drop a few pounds.

Magic pills don't exist. There are supps to aide in losing weight but it still requires eating properly + working out. Personally I wouldn't even suggest a pill to you because your just starting out. I don't recommend any supps to anyone that hasn't been going to a gym constantly for 8 months to a year, knows what they are doing, and has a good grasp on their eating habits. Supps can help but IMO they can really screw you up if your not ready for them and/or don't know what your doing.

Thankyou for the advice and encouragement. I do try hardest not to be self-concious but it is so so hard, I get so upset at being so large that I wish the ground would swallow me up everytime I set foot out the door.
To make things worse are my pictures from over 10 yrs ago of me as a slim fit healthy child and teenager, I hate the way I look now and hate thinking about the time it would take to be the way I used to, I used to be an extrovert now i'm introvert, I used to get called 'beautiful' 'gorgeous' 'could be a model' but now i'm huge and cellulite ridden hate having my picture taken. I feel awful inside and wish I could shake this feeling off and join the gym but its so hard that I get depressed from it all and start eating more which makes me fatter and even more depressed, I desperately want to break this cycle of self-destruction and get back to my former self before it's too late. my weight is 106kg height is 5'5in, I get back-pain and exhausted very quickly from walking let alone running.

You have to want something enough to achieve it. .

Sorry to be so blunt, but get off your ass and do something about it. . (I'm saying this in an encouraging way, not a rude way)

If you want to be fit, then you will do what it takes to become fit. .

If you THINK you want to be fit, then you're just going to sit around THINKING about how great it would to be fit. . then 5 minutes later go back to your unhealthy lifestyle. .

Don't worry about what other people think. That's a huge problem with today's society. .They care to much about what everyone else thinks. .

Looking fit/sexy definitely makes you feel good because everyone else is like "damn, look at her. . shes got a great body" but nothing beats the feeling of liking what YOU see in the mirror . .

When you're fit they love you and give you encouraging comments. . but when you're fat they don't say a damn thing. . and at the end of the day you look at yourself in the mirror and YOU are upset at what you see. . Not these other people. . So workout and get sexy for you, no one else.

WOW! Thanks for that that was quite a story, and the before and after pics astonishing!

I read her diet and would like to do it, your right I need to stop THINKING all the time about my weight and just go for it, I do have alot of willpower and determination and know I can do it, I just get so depressed sometimes from being so large and food comforts me... it comforts me so much i'm almost afraid to let it go in fact i'm craving a huge candy bar right now, how do I let go of these feelings? it seems i'll be thinking about food all the time?

I read what workouts she did and it confused me, I don't really know what workouts they are, don't mean to sound stupid, sorry but I really don't know what they mean.

I saw she was also taking supplements, I also want the multivitamin and vitamin c but am confused about the others, I want the ones right for me but don't know about that judgment for myself, could I get some advice?

Also I want some workouts designed especially for the areas of my body i want to target. For example I am very worried my skin will become 'empty' and start to sag if I start to lose weight, many people told me it won't that it's to do with 'toning' excercises but I don't know what they are or how to do them. I'm especially worried about my stomach hanging down and how to get it flat again, i'm worried the skin will sag and hang down, her stomach wasn't very big to begin with so I can see how she got it looking good so soon, but mine isn't only very large but it hangs down alot. Also my breasts arent very small and i'm worried same thing will happen to them.

I like the before and after pics and thought maybe I will do that too, although the thought of anyone seeing me like this horrifies me let alone taking pictures of myself, I think it might encourage me.

Fitbabe, to start off welcome to the forum!! The best place to start is realizing how bad you want to loose weight.. from there you have to do a little research as to how to get there. I know for a lady the gym can sometimes be intimidating but are you really going to let that rule your life? Most people that you see at the gym will be willing to help and give you pointers, and believe it or not they do understand how it is. It's very important to give yourself enough credit and believe in yourself enough that you can acheive it, don't beat yourself up!! Really, no one at the gym will put you down for being there, they will respect you. About pills, sure there are some pills that will give you energy but you really need to combine them with exercise for there to be any results... For you it will be fairly easy to loose weight with just exercise and to start taking pills will probably over-do it if your heart is not fit. I would focus on getting an exercise plan down, a diet, and the basics before adding any find of supplements...Remember to not be afraid to ask questions whether it be here or at the gym, I know everyone here is always happy to help and with my experience at the gym everyone has always been pretty helpful. Just remember Be consistent, Be determined, Be confident, and challange your body! Good luck with everything sweetheart!

dont worry about her exact diet and routine. . shes a pro at this now, that routine/diet isnt what got her there. . baby steps were probably the result of a lot of her weight loss. .

start by completly ridding your house of junk food. .

then start going for walks. . .

then clean your diet up even more. . not only get rid of the junk food, but make it a rule to only eat healthy foods. . then maybe get a gym membership or start going for morning powerwalks/jogs. .

eventually start a basic weight training regime. . mixed with some cardio. . and a cleaned up diet. . youll be 10-15lbs lighter before you hit here and imagine how many lbs will melt off once youve been doing the weight training/cardio/diet for a few weeks

as a former fatty i can tell you it comes off quickly at first. You do have to make the commitment though, control your portions, log your food so you know what you are consuming, dump the soda and sports drinks and change to water, NO MORE FAST FOOD or FROZEN MEALS, cook your food. If you can't cook, buy a general cook book and read. If you need recipies, pm me and ill email them to you, i have about 50 various recipies for good high protein moderate carb and low fat meals.

I started at home with a tae bo dvd and about $50 in free weights from wal mart in my bedroom, about an hour a day. In the first month i lost probably 25 lbs and it just continued from there until i went from about 270 to 195lbs. I've now packed on some nice lean mass at 215lbs.

I agree with all said, and hey kudos because you are HERE aren't you?! So you've laready taken a great big step towards your goals. I hear ya on the gym thing......I remeber feeling like I didn't belong in a gym, and man before you knew I was a force to reckon with in the gym. I now train at home......I've got 2 kids and am home with them. I've taken the time and care to set myslef up pretty nicely at home to be able to get in the kind of workouts I used to do in the gym.....that takes time.
For yourself, since you've not ever set foot in a gym and are all shiney and new to it all, I'd maybe suggest doing bodyweight stuff. Walking lunges, crunches, pushups, lying back extensions, squats look into crossfit stuff (it's mostly bodyweight work).......and who knows, maybe one day you'll feel confident enough to walk into a gym......just keep reminding yourself that gym's are there for people like yourself........not JUST elite athletes or esthetically pleasing bodies........every BODY in that gym started somewhere and I can guarantee you that they did not look the way they do now when they first signed their first membership!! I'm with toonces in that I totally give my respects to people who, like yourself are making some hard efforts for probably the first time in their lives to get fit! You GO GIRL!! And don't let anybody stop you either, especially not that little voice that says 'can't'

Movement is key!!!! My fiance', who deals with low back pain daily just took her first NIA class.

Myself, I'm getting an exercise bike for the new house so I can rev up the metabolism in the morning, rather than waiting for cardio when I get to the gym later.

I do supplement for weight loss, but I use cayenne pepper and apple cider vinegar-not the stimulants.
