best tasting protein bar and whey shake brand
I'am looking for a quality, good tasting whey protein shake and protein bar brand(s). Is there a certain brand of protein shake and bar that is well known in the lifting world for its overall quality and good taste? I tried a few powerbars and they seemed pretty decent, they have 20 grams of protein in them but i wondered if anyone know of a better one.
I would really like some help with whey protein shake brands because i went to wal-mart and a few other places and they have so many different varities i dont really know what to buy, it's sort of overwhelming if you dont know what to look for exactly. And i especially don't want to hand over 30-40$ for something that tastes like rotten liquid cheese. Thanks for any suggestions.

I take the chocolate Whey Protein Isoflex by AllMaxNutrition.
It tastes really good, but I think its only available in Canada.

ON 100% Whey Gold Standard. I have Ice Cream flavor, it tastes great, from what I heard chocolate tastes the best, but I don't care that much for chocolate. They have lots of flavors for you, easy mixing as well.
As for the protein bars, Detour, you can even get the big bars, they have 30g of protein per bar! That is crazy! They taste damn nice too. Some flavors to choose from with them also...

Disclaimer: don't rely on supplements for your protein - instead, try to get your nutrition from whole food sources.
That out of the way, most people here seem to like ON (Optimum Nutrition) for powder, though I've always been partial to Met-rx. Detour (Designer Whey) has some really good tasting bars w/30+ g protein, but they're heavily loaded w/ hudrogenated fat and - I recall - are pretty high calorie. So they taste great, but I really don't recommend them.

Be very careful with what protein supplements you pick. Some may taste great, but have dangerous ingredients associated with them.
To give you an example, Muscle Milk is the protein supplement that I often hear about which tastes great. I've never tried it myself, but I get the same response from everyone who's tried it. However, there is an ingredient that it contains (glycocyamine) which is believed to be a risk factor for cardiovascular disease and brain damage.

I bought ON whey protein after people said it tasted good. I wish I stuck with my Dymatize Elite Whey. Far better tasting than ON and has 3g of Glutamine per serving which ON does not.

with water, the on tastes pretty bad, and yes muscle milk is the best tasting one because it is also a lot higher in fat than the other whey shakes out there. i am taking muscle milk right now, and i did read about the problem with glycocyamine so im thinking about stopping, but i dont take it very often so i dont see it as much of a problem for me.

I don't think that there's anything on this green earth that will give you 40% increased gains. Immediately post-workout, you need something like 8g protein, and 24g carbs. Within an hour or so, eat a complete meal. That's it.

Clif makes a couple of good all natual bars. Their energy bar has 10 grams of protein and comes in lots of good flavors. Their Clif Builder's protein bar packs 20 grams of protein. Both bars taste good to me. Kashi Go Lean has a good, all natural bar that has 13 grams of protein. It comes in several good flavors, too. I also use Zone Perfect and Balance. I get them all at Target for 97 cents each.

Bionic Edge from Revulutionary Fitness makes the best tasting, highest quality whey protein powder. Many great flavors, order the 10# tub. Get on his emai list, sometimes he emails discounts out. I buy creatine, glutamine from him and have found all his products to be great.
Flavor in Bionic Edge is GREAT...like a cheat!!!! I've had great results with it.

this has been asked quite often....lol but heres my favorite. syntha-6 by bsn. ive tried just about every flavor they offer and like em. i like the fact if you buy the flavor mochachino it really does taste like a mochachino! even the banana was excellent!
my fav tho chocolate milk and of all the powders ive tried over the years its the closest ive come to the real deal!
you dont seem to be able to taste the protein in it like some will leave an after taste.

I heard they changed the formula a while back. There was still some of the old brands on shelfs though so if you've had yours for a while it could still be the old formula.
Oh and I vote for peanut butter steel bar. There was a guy giving away free samples at my gym the other day. It was a big shaker bottle with 2 packs of protein in it, ON-RECOVERY, 1 pack of pre workout supplement and 1 pack of post workout, also 2 mini steele bars and they were delicious. The ON-RECOVERY was nasty as hell but some reviews on the internet say people actually like it. I literally almost puked, that macho mango or w.e is grosse.

as far as protein bars go i usually dont waste my time on them other then throwing a few in the glove box or emergency kit in the trunk for survival purposes. when at home if i want protein, i will just make a huge sandwich of meat on whole wheat, or just eat it as is.
