Multivitamin/multiminerals
Alright everyone, I did a thread search and saw that there was a silmilar question asked back in December 06. I did'nt get any real answers from the thread or threads. Im currently taking Centrium Silver but was told by a "GNC" rep that it was not a significant source for heavy resistance training. I was curious if that statement had any truth to it!!?? I looked at a few brands and compared ingrediants and noticed a huge difference in vitamins and minerals. Are there any that should be of concern when consuming to much? Also is there any one multi that reigns supreme? Thanks in advance!

A multivitamin/multimineral pill is simply a multivitamin/multimineral pill. Most of them have the same ingredients in them, with roughly the same amounts for each ingredient. Whatever the salesman told you is bogus. Then on the other hand, what else would you expect him to tell you? They're always going to try and push their products down your throat.
Besides, if you're already eating a well balanced diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables, meat, complex carbohydrates, and diary products, you'll already be getting more than enough of the vitamins and minerals you need.

I like Usana brand, it is apparently the best absorbed so you are not wasting your money in vitamin pee!
Its about a hundred bucks per month for the Essentials and Proflavinols but this is a pretty complete cocktail!

I agree on the vitamin pee.
While taking my multi, it's like neon pee. Not the bad dehydrated color, it just says "well..there went half that pilll...."

I am a Clinical Nutritionist in Jersey and although my distributer doesn't carry it, the best, the BEST multivitamin/mineral/phytonutrient supplement on the market is made by the Life Extension group. you have to take handfuls of pills (14 per day) but this stuff has everything current science finds effective at promoting human health.
again, I don't sell this stuff so I make no money on it. It IS the best.
here it is:

Then your not drinking enough water to help transport those nutrients.

the color you get is probably caused by the body metabolizing vitamin B2, or riboflavin. that's a good thing, not bad

I agree with Insex. If you eat healthy diet (variety of fruits, vegetables, fish, meat, dairy products and avoid or limit “junk foods”) and are not at risk of vitamin/mineral deficiency (smoking, stress, too much sugar consumption etc.) probably you have no need to take supplements.
When I take vitamin supplements, I usually take only a half of recommended dose.
As for Life Extension, it looks like a reliable brand. They have discussion board about their products: forum.lef.org/default.aspx?f=35
I would like to note that vitamins/minerals in supplement form are not the thing “the more the better”.

Yes agreed with the eating healthy statement. Honestly if you do that, a simple mens multivitamin from Wal Mart will be sufficient enough for you. And if GNC has any good sales, their Megaman's vitamins are good too.

I use envia, its a liquid and is easily absorbed into your system, kinda spendy but I know that I see the results from it.
