Protien Shakes: Whey Vs Soya??
The difference.
I checked on the holland and barrat site, and the only difference i see is that Soya contains less fat. The rest are pretty much identical.
Is there more that meets the eye?

From what ive heard other people say on this site: soy protein is good for women and NOT men who want to build muscle because soy produces estrogen (something like that) which builds more lean elongated muscles rather than big bulky ones (assuming youre drinking this for weightlifting). If youre a man lifting weights u definitely want whey instead of soy.

soy contains phyto-estrogens. Your body reacts as though you're taking estrogen supplements, so it may be good for women going though menopause (though it will raise their risk for breast cancer), but it's terrible for those attempting to add muscle mass. It won't affect the shape of muscles (elongated vs. bulky - which is a whole other story), but will adversely affect your ability to put on muscle. And it may lead to a higher incidence of kidney stones.

Does this effect also come from simple Soy Milk consumption? I used to use it in my cereal for a few years until recently when I decided to go back to milk. Or are you just talking about the extracted protein from the soya made for the supplement?

Pretty sure it's all soy - I don't really know how much actual soy there is in soy milk (it's got to be mostly H20, right?), but I think that the research started to come out in the early 2000's - it was one of the reasons that I ended my multi-year vegetarian experiment, b/c what else can you stir-fry with vegetables once you get rid of meat and tofu?
I really enjoyed soy milk for a time (yes - I was doing low-dairy as well), but I quit it just in case (the estrogen freaked me out, and I've seen people with kidney stones - no thanks).
