I prefer swimming! Plus if you push yourself hard enough I'd think you'd get more workout from swimming.

i feel swimming is more enjoyable than a normal cardio workout...like playing basketball. i'd have more fun doing that then running on a treadmill.

I'm not sure that I understand the question. Swimming [i]is[i] a form of cardio! It is very beneficial to your body in a variety of ways, and is great for those who suffer from joint injuries, obesety, and even severe cases of Multiple Sclerosis or Cerebral Palsey.

If you are a runner and have not spent very much time in the water, give it a shot. You will be surprised at how quickly you are able to achieve your target heart rate. You will also experience the use of muscle groups that have never worked together before.

Swimming is cardio if done properly.
I prefer it over running or biking (not sure what cardio workout you're referring too), because you hit more muscle groups with no impact.
Mudrock is right on the money.

I generally use swimming as a form of cooldown after my heavy weight sessions, its perfect as it works as a method of stretching and lowering my heart rate. I agree though swimming can also be used as a form of cardio, as with everything you can perform them at different intensities to suit your requirements.
