Default mental training for the swimmer

Hi
Im new here.
Im a master hypnotist , clinical hypnotherapist and trainer form sydney australia.

I recently had the first ever swimmer I have worked with. I've been doing what I do for a long time but I was very impressed with what this swimmer did after one session.

I saw him on a monday and on the following saturday he broke 2 of his personal bests.

Swimmers, are you using the power of your inner mind to propel you forward ?
Im interested to know what the swimmers of the world use for mental training.

Mnay years ago I trained with a group called accelleration australia and libby lenton trained there and I overheard visualisation was a big part of her mental training she idd with her sports physcologist.

what are you doing ?

I'm not a very good swimmer, but I do train 3 times a week for cardio, and to work towards divemaster. I do find there is a lot of mind game going on for me. When the pool is crowded I swim my best...seems the other swimmers take some of my attention, and I swim more naturally. When I have the pool to myself I don't seem to swim as comfortably....seems my mind gets preoccupied with somewhat negative thoughts....fatigue, muscle soreness, etc.....Doubt seasoned swimers have the same problem, but perhaps they have other mind games to contend with...

Funny thing, I was just talking to my buddy this morning about a marathon he ran over the weekend. For him, when running, he starts thinking about everything else and tunes out the pain below his waist.

Way back when I was in the service, I would think about the ladies I would go out with that night when doing 50+ mile roadmarches. I know, not quite swimming, but still, worth mentioning for the mental states people get into when performing strenuous exercises.
