Omg 0% Body Fat? Help What's Wrong With Me?!?!?
hello i'm a girl and i'm 15yrs old i'm quite short and i'm not fat i'm actually quite thin lol
I used these scales and weighed myself on some body fat scales, everyone got a turn their's came out normal around 10-20 they were all girls around my age, but when I got on the scales my body fat was 0.1% and i came back 6 weeks later i went down and the scales weren't able to detect any fat so it said ERROR ERROR?!?!
does anyone know what's wrong with me? it isn't to do with the scales since it worked perfectly well for everyone else

If you were at 0% body fat you would be dead. I dont know what happened to the scales when you got on but I do know there is no possible way that you can live with 0% BF.

Obviously the scales are broken. 0.1% bodyfat is way past the point of death. I don't even think Nazi concentration camp victims had bodyfat percentages that low.

What grade are you in?
I assume your young if you thought your body fat percentage was 0%.

You are 15. You are still growing. There is nothing wrong with you. Allow yourself to grow into you body as it develops. Eat right. Get plenty of sleep.

It will direct you to the Nutrition and Weight Loss section of this site. If you have the time, read Doughboy's stickied threads on nutrition.
Do not let anyone dictate to you what you should look like. More women have destroyed themselves trying to live up to someone else's standards of beauty. Just relax, and enjoy the teen years.
Have fun.

To add to the great advice here, ignore the freakin scale!
Scales are evil and serve only to cause you to self destruct.
That scale is especially evil, and your teacher was probably more right to laugh it off than he/she was wrong. You mentioned you were "quite short" this alone could confound that scale. Your height may not match up with it's formula for calcultaing body fat%.
The tale of the tape young lady is your best bet. Tape measures and clothing sizes do n ot lie. And as long as you are working from a healthy goal based on your height, age, gender and frame size you will be fine. No matter what any peers may say, think or be doing.
Don't obsess, stay on a reasonable exercise and nutrition plan and as was said, have fun! Check your progress with your doctor and everyone else with an opinion is not valid input.

The scales that measure body fat are for entertainment only. If you want a true indication of your bodyfat, get a caliper test done with a qualified professional or an underwater test.
As was stated previously, if your bodyfat is 0%, you've been dead for quite a while.
But re-read Gman's post. Don't woory about it and don't worry what others think.

the only reason it shows that aside from actual calculation error, is your hydration level.
the machines that you grab onto that measures the weight on the scale uses ur water level to determine ur body fat which is really inaccurate. but is usually used in gyms to assist trainers with the... larger clients that do not want fat calipers anywhere near them.
