Facial hair?
Hi all (sorry if I put this in the wrong section)
Anyways Im 16 years old and still havent gotten any significant facial hair, and its getting kinda annoying.
I dont get it, I have a European bloodline so it should not be as if I wont get any facial hair, but I am getting kind of nervous.
I am getting a little hair on my cheek area right underneath my ear, but nothing big, just a few.
I also have a "teen stache" where I kinda have a small moustache but the hairs arent course.
I was just wondering, is there anything I can do to help promote facial hair to grow? (Not taking steroids though lol)
And should I shave my "teen stache"?
I guess it looks kinda stupid, but I dont wanna shave it off and look like Im 5 years old.
Lastly, if I shave it off, will it grow back thicker and darker?
Thanks alot!!

I'm sorry I laughed when I read your post. Well, I'm European and I don't have hair on my chest or under my armpits (a blessing in my book) and I'm old enough to be your dad
Like you in my teen I was late with facial hair (I still am!) and I can't see anything wrong with that. I had friends who have to shave twice a day to look neat, I almost got away with not shaving every other mornings when I was in the air force. Yet again, a blessing
Once you start shaving, it does indeed grow back, and eventually, it thickens but I would really shave it off if it look too juvenile, it GOTTA be worse than shaved.
Lastly, you're young. It doesn't last long, so make the best of it. Trust me, you'll spend a fat lot more time wishing you looked youger than you gonna spend wishing you looked older

was the same with me when i was in school. I have a july birthday so all the kids in my class were older than me. I stupidly started shaving off the white fuzz when i was like 14 or 15 with my dads razor. I now shave my entire body and wish i had no hair. Everyones gotta learn their own lessons though. If it were me and i had it to do over again, at that time in my life i would have shaved off my white fuzz again.
Joebar is right though, you spend your teen years wishing and trying to make yourself older, and you spend your late 30's and later trying to make yourself and wishing you were younger.

haha im 15 now too bro. Im lucky if im shaving once a week and that is only on my mustache and on my cheeks a little. Im pretty sure it has to do with fast growers vs slow growers .I noticed last year, freshman year, that a lot of the guys in my grade that were a lot stronger than others also had a lot of facial hair, like noticible beards that grow back every day. people like you and me change and develope more slowly over time.
Remeber that the guys who are strongest and the guys who have the most hair/ largest organs arnt gonna be the same guy next year. Im a soph and have gone form a 90 pound bench to a 180 pound bench in only a year. WHo knows, maybe next year youll be the hairest guy and wish that you were the guy who had less hair.

Thanks for all the posts guys!
I guess I will shave my "teen stache".
LOL Ironically my friend commented on how I should shave it right after I went out after creating the thread.

Like Joe said.... enjoy it while it last! I friggin hate shaving. Luckily I am in IT so I can get away with looking like a slob so I generally just shave 1 or 2 times a week. I also have a goatee and grow a full beard during the winter and I can go a LOT longer without shaving. It will come just don't worry about it...
And uh oh yeah.... LOSE the teen stache. Like mulletts they are totally lame. Nothing worse than somebody HAVING a stache/beard who can't grow one. I don't wear spandex cause I can't (not that anyone really should wear spandex)but regardless I know I won't look good in it so therefore I don't wear it.

LOL
I didnt realize it was that "uncool" to have one .
Ill shave it soon, preferable during Winter break or perhaps when Im off school for a bit, so I have a bit of a chance to grow it back without looking like a little kid.

For most people it'll come eventually. You'll wish you had it until you have it!
I'm 20 now, and I get hair that I have to shave from the bottom of my chin, covering my neck, and all the way down to my chest! Although, it comes in slower on my cheeks and sideburn areas, and I can get away with only shaving my upper lip about once a week. I can't say I wish that I had more or less, I'd rather it just be more even to where I could do something with it if I wanted to. (Well, when I'm out of the military at least!)

Trust me when I say that these guys are right - shaving's a royal pain in the A. And it will come eventually, though I don't think that there's too much to do that'll bring it in faster. A number of people say that regularly shaving will make the hair thicker or more "robust" or something - I don't know if it's true, because there aren't many people out there who have never shaved -- I think that it being thicker is more a byproduct of time than shaving.
And the European thing is no guarantee of need to shave - my grad-school class was disturbingly white, and there were alot of guys who couldn't grow a solid beard (we'd do play-off beards for finals - otherwise that would be wierd info to know, lol).
Because of the 90210-effect (it come out in middle school, I think --- in my late 20's now) and Christian Laettner, I always wanted great sideburns, which led to some pretty funny haircuts for a few years. I ended up being a daily shaver by the end of high school, and have pretty much been cursing it ever since -- if I'm doing anything important in the afternoon/evening (dates, meetings, or cute girls at the gym, pretty much) I'll end up shaving 2x a day. I'd say I hate it, but I'm lucky, though - don't have hair on my back (if I did, it'd be straight to the laser hair removal, screw the cost).
And shave the teen-stache today. They never look good (sorry).

i never had much facial hair and after being in the millitary and being forced to shave regardless of needing to or not seems to have promoted growth. just hate it now though!
