30% Increase in Muscle Strength*

*This next generation protein includes a clinically tested, anabolic module of 20 grams of whey protein and 6.2 grams of leucine; and 8-week study of athletes performing an intense resistance exercise training regimen demonstrated that those using this proprietary module of whey protein with leucine had an increased improvement in muscle strength and muscle size as compared to those performing the same exercise training regimen who did not consume the proprietary module. In a clinical study of participants using a unilateral lower limb resistance training protocol, even the untrained limb demonstrated increases in muscle size.** It also features glutamine, one of the most abundant amino acids found in skeletal muscles.

Too much sodium, and GNC's always more expensive. That said, though, you'll actually get what's in the canister (a number of the inexpensive protein companies just add sugars to the mix to keep the price down).

I know I started at GNC (met-rx, FWIW), so there's nothing wrong with it, but they have a huge mark-up.

You should read up on supplements on this site and on other sites like bodybuilding.com. Pliny is dead on about GNC and their pricing. Once you find products, check prices on sites like saveonsupplements.com or other sites.

I would recommend:

1. Eating tons of good food (Unsure of good food? Do some research on this site!)
2. Doing some heavy lifting (Unsure of good workout program? Do some research on this site!)
3. Supplement with protein (Casein is best)
4. Supplement with creatine (Ethyl ester is best)
5. Supplement with Omega 3 fatty acids

Unsure of any of the above? Do some research on this site!

Avoid any supplement that has any words like anabolic, extreme, turbo, express, ultra, dimension, blah, blah, etc in it.

It's all a load of over-priced crap and that's the only fact that is a real fact regarding all this BS marketting.

As posted above just go for the basics and avoid the big brands with fancy claims, they're ALL lies.

Get a whey protein concentrate that's about 80% protein. Don't go for anything that says 'blend' in it. These are rip-offs that have 99% concentrate and 1% isolate and then claim it's a super fast 'blend' and charge the earth. You do not need isolate unless lactose intolerant.

Get a casein if you desire, not essential. If you can eat cottage cheese then eat that before bed instead, I can't stand the stuff so use a casein protein powder. Milk is great too but there's lots of carbs in it aswell, again upto you if bothered about that?

Get some creatine. Ethyl Esther is like battery acid and tastes like it, if you like you tooth enamel then stick to monohydrate. For optimal uptake follow these simple steps:

1. 5g of creatine needs taking with at least 500ml of water, warm is best as the creatine will dissolve in it better.
2. Take just after breakfast or PWO or any meal containing some carbs that will raise insulin levels.
3. Salts could improve creatine uptake, I add some electrolytes to my creatine drink - this is upto you.

As said above get some fish oils in you. Try to get oily fish like mackerel in your diet everyday. Top up with fish oil caps so you get 6g-10g of Omega-3 daily.

Shop around and be smart and you can pick up all these supplements for the price of one tub of over priced garbage like Ultra Extreme Wheybolic Turbo

id take anything GNC tells you with a grain of salt.....with that said they will tell you what you want to hear just to get a sale. the majority of sales associates that ive seen working in GNC have been very unfit out of shape people with very little knowledge on the materials they are selling. just the other day i tested the knowledge of a worker there and they gave me this cockamaimy story to what the product was. then after they were through i asked them if they made that up and pulled out a computer printout that i googled and she turned red in the face and was speechless.
