Default Request for renaming files b4 uploading

Could I ask all the nice Pic'nClip posters to rename their files to something "readable", or something that does not need renaming rightaway after the download.

Example out of practice:

Rename a file "LBW13M_White_Bed" to "LBoyle@WhiteBed" b4 you upload it.

If you leave a space it will be replaced by a _; so just don't make spaces. I know it's a bit more work for you posters. I use the capital to indicate that there are 2 words. LisaBoyle would of course be equally good. These short names are from the DOS times; I don't see why we should keep on using them.

Other example:

"lb_evolution" could better be renamed as "LBoyle@Evolution" or LBoyleatEvolution or just LBoyleEvolution. Make sure to use capitals to draw the attention that it's not 1 word. And use 3 digits starting from 001 and not 000.

I use this system now for quite some time and I guarantee you it's much easier to find something back. And if on top of that you put all the babes whit the same name in the same bag (folder), it's even more fun.

But of course this is just a friendly advice, it's finally up to you

Thanks, it saves 1000 of people a lot of work.

Sorry, PLover, I understand you but canīt agree with you!

I know, that sometimes, the names are very confused.
Remember: If you downloaded a vid ... then you rename it and later you want to upload it to rapidshare, it normally exists already and you get the original name again.

Another thing is: How many vids would exist parallel, you think its new (cause of the new name), but its still the same vid a you will get a lot of it.

My last thing: There are a lot of vids just found in the www. But there were people, who made the vid! Just like me, I capture some vids out of TV, cut them, transfer them into avis, give them a name and then post them. And sorry, I donīt like it, if my file is renamed by another one. o.k. my names are readable ...

So its up to you, if you donīt like a name then to rename it. But I agree with you, if someone makes a new vid, then to take a clear and understandable name!

EDIT:
Oh, and for your example: "LBW13M_White_Bed" is better to read than "LBoyle@WhiteBed" I like to use "_" to seperate words for better reading!

I think different people prefer different file-name standards: some like to prefix the file name with the model name, but others create a folder for each model etc.

Adding a prefix when saving is very easy (at least with IE) if you put the prefix on the Windows clipboard first. I have done the finger-movements (Home + Ctrl-V) so many times, that I don't even notice I am doing them.

Good, because understanding is the first step in the right direction to fully agreeing with the other person.

Everybody renames their files of course to it's own liking when they land on their computer of course.

But my suggestion of course is to make it a little bit easier.

I hate however to disagree with you on the specific example you gave.
Let's say I leave your file on my PC like your example. Now I'm gonna do a search.
How the hell can I find that file back that is labelled LB for Lisa Boyle. So I do a search for LB.
Maybe I won't get that much answers this time if I tell my search Program to look 4 only Capitals.
I mean OK but do I rename all my files from Fembomb to FB ?
And about the "_" you like to use.....
Don't you agree with me that your system takes much more space, and even when taking more space doesn't even tell you that it's a LisaBoyle clip.
I know spaces are out of the question because they are filled with "_" once you Upload them to a server.
My system simply consists of replacing the "_" by a starting capital for the new word. This system is becoming more widespread you know....
Now I agree partly ... all my Fembomb VideoFiles start with FB (but only 4 the vid's) and on the other hand all my Pamela Anderson stuff starts with PAnderson. I try to keep words short too.. That's why I don't use the "_". I'm considering a change BTW to change PAnderson to PA simply. Would even save me more space.

Sorry to be an anti "_" guy, but my purpose is to find a system where we downloaders have to make the least changes as possible.

sorry, but my purpose is to find a system where we collectors have to make the least changes as possible.

Some of my stuff is sorted and organized with CSVs and I'm glad for any automatic help I get to get some system in the stuff.

eg LBW13M_White_Bed -> 13th Multimedia CD of Lisa Boyle Web collection, White Bed
know where the CD is if I need it or maybe I with the miss/wrong if I still need the file.

I definetly won't rename an existing CSV collection to suit a downloader's need/wish. Take it or leave it alone.

Well all that being said, next time I upload something I'll take your opinions on the matter certainly into account.
