Why must you wait between searches?

Since one of the main issues people on the forum have is the misuse of the search function, is there any reason you have to wait 30 seconds between searches? It seems to me this doesn't exactly facilitate thorough searches before posting.

Because searches can be particularily resource intensive and as such a delay ensures that the server doesn't get hammered by everyone submitting repeated searches too quickly.

Okay, thanks. I can't post pictures in the POB forum anymore anyway since we went to the new system. So searching first to see if they're already posted is a moot point for me. I just think the forum has its little paradoxes, like you can't post till you've posted enough, or search first but not too efficiently. Anyway, thanks.

Try reading the "Why can't I post?" thread stuck to the top of the forum.
