What is an EF Big Dog?

Someone who has contirbuted to the site in a positive way - either by active posting (not post whoring) or by rating from fellow members that establish them as a content producer on this site. EF Big Dogs stand out from other members by their titles and their site privledges.

How do I get to be an EF Big Dog?

There are three things you need to achieve "EF Big Dog" status: Post Count, Reputation Level and days of membership.

Post count is simple; contribute 300 posts to the site and you are an EF Big Dog (must be a member for at least 30 days). "Post Whoring" is discouraged and will be penalized if you do it enough that a Moderator takes notice. If you made enough useless posts and don't respond to warnings, then you may find your post count reduced to zero and you start over. We don't want 300 smiley posts, we want something useful that our members can read!

Reputation is a little more complicated. Every member starts out with 10 points of reputation and every member with more than 25 posts on the site can give another user 1 additional point to add to their reputation. Users can also earn the privledge of giving other users more points for every review - members gain 1 addition point of power for every 500 posts they make, for every year they are a member, for every 300 points of reputation they have. The follow scores give a user the following "reputations":

Points: Title
< -999: Dead To Us
< -50: Asshole
< -10: Jerk
0: Not very well liked
10: Regular Joe (default)
50: People like me
150: People REALLY like me
250: Content Provider
700: EF Big Dog (here's where you reach EF Big Dog status)
1000: Top Dog

So, as you can see, you can get to be an EF Big Dog simply by posting quality material on the site and getting your fellow members to "review" you. Get 700 points from your peers, 300 posts and mmbership for at least 30 days and you're an EF Big Dog.

Members can leave positive or negative reviews which effect another members score. Members should reward (or penalize) other members based on the content they provide the site. Find the Reputation icon under a users name and click on it to leave a review. You can give out 50 points per day in reviews and after reviewing 20 different users you can re-review someone another time.

As an added bonus, if I think your posts deserve an Administrator review, you be awarded (or penalized) 50 points.

Once you have established yourself as an "EF Big Dog", you are entitled to the following benefits:

. EF Big Dog title recgonition
. No banner ads!
. can view hidden content
. Avatars (120x120, 40kb)
. can upload up to 5 attachments (up to 150kb)
. 250 PM limit
. 2mb upload space on Photo Galleries, 150kb upload file size limit, 25 uploads per day

If you are a site contributor as well as an EF Big Dog, then you get the greater of the privledges offered.

on a serious note....supporters of this forum always have a direct ear of any moderator on duty...nothing like getting in the inner circle of buddys that supporting this forum(although NOT REQUIRED) naturally gives you.every cent you give goes to paying the costs in keeping us all having fun by keeping the costs down to support this forum.I am remembered by my father telling/teaching me..."If you dont put anything in the machine son,nothing will come out.")just sumtin to think about...I dont judge anyone for doing so or not doing so but I do attend first to the supporters.....I would be lying if I said I didnt.Everyone has my ear, but like a triage,supporters,Big Dogs,Those I have seen provide lots of content or interacting with forum members get it first.

First I want to say the new site is GREAT!!!! I love the the new way to become a an EF Big Dog and I also like the reputation idea... It will keep up the great posts and should all but elimate the stupid spam posts and other false posts.... EF Keep up the great work.... Mods thanks for making the site what it is.. People will give you points by clicking on the smiley under your name to the left of each post you do. Depending on how long they've been here and how much they posted will depend on how much their 'vote' counts. You can check the amount of rep you have by clicking your own smiley. When you click 'User CP' at the top of the page and scroll down you'll be able to see the last 25 people who have repped you and what (if anything) they had to say. Hope this helps!

I believe that once you reach 100 points you gain an extra green 'rep' square. That increases every time you reach the next hundred mark. As for the silver/gold/diamond tag, that relates to how much you have donated. See this thread for more info: Site Supporter/EF Big Dogs Information and Avatar/Signature Policies (updated!)

I believe the way it works now is that once you reach 301 posts you get Big Dog status. So, congrats, boyfester!

Edit: Now I'm not so sure. *laugh* I just saw that puddycat reached 300 posts and got Big Dog status. There might just be a slight delay for the server to realize you've reached 300 and that might be why your new title didn't display immediately.
