Losing your Big Dog or Top Dog status info
As indicated in the Announcement forum, there is a new requirement for achieving Big Dog status: 1,000 reputation points (and 90 days of membership). You'll notice that there is no more post count as this was an arbitrary number that seemed to encourage post whoring.
If you fall below 1,000 reputation points, you will lose your Big Dog status.
Top Dog status is achieved with 2,000 reputation points (and 180 days of membership). If you fall below 2,000 reputation points, you will be "demoted" to Big Dog status.
In other words, keep up or get left behind!
One other clarification, in order to be able to give other members reputation points, you must have earned 500 points of your own. This means that only those members who have been judged by their peers will be in a position to judge others. Anyone can leave feedback, but only those with more than 500 points will find their reps counting towards another member.
Thank you for your feedback and patience as we try to make this system as fair as possible.

So far so good, but by the time I'll reach the 2000 mark, it'll be 3000 for TopDog I guess.
Anyway I reached the 1000 rep mark long before this decision was taken (gathered something like 190 reppoints in 4 days).
So my question is this: the Top Dogs at this moment that have something between 1000 and 2000 reppoints, do they loose their Top Dog status to become Big Dog again ?
If not I'm entitled to Top Dog status too I guess.
The same for the Big Dogs with less than 1000 rep points (quite a number BTW) at this moment.
Do they all become Senior member ? At the moment I'm writing this I haven't seen any Big Dog "demoted" to Senior Member. I think such a decision would be extremely unpopular, but if it's needed go ahead, you get my full support.
So I'm entitled to my Top Dog status because I was theoretically a Top Dog already before today. Thank you.

If you have less than 2,000 rep points, but more than 1,000; then you fall back to Big Dog status. If 2,000 is too high a number then I am willing to reconsider it. Currently there are 33 Top Dogs - so not something unattainable, yet significant enough to warrent the additional attention.
We never envisioned Top Dogs as being a majority, the Best Of The Best is suppose to be tough to get into.

I think this is exactly what is needed!!I like that it is more a peer thing then just post count. It to hard to judge weather someone is post whoring or not. This way good members will get there due cause they will be repped.Plus because it is harder to become a Big Dog or Top Dog, it will make it sweeter for those who reach it.It will be more earned!!!Good job FP!!!

Yes I have .I also spent alot of time and effort to get here.I think that anybody who gets to Top Dog and Big Dog should earn it.Not by how often they post a reply.Look at the effort of all the ppl that are at Top Dog.They spend alot of time posting or helping others or just making everyone laugh. For those who lost their spot as Top Dog, they are obviously great members already and will most likely reclaim their TD stat soon enough.I hope you get yours back soon. And Im sending you some reps to speed that along.Be patient. If things continued as it was, everybody was going to be a Big Dog and only some would have truly deserved it.Then it would have meant nothing.Just my opinion.

That's true the BigDog Level was a bit too low. I think we should introduce a BigCat level say at 500 rep points. I wouldn't mind being a BigCat instead of a BigDog. That is of course if Pam can expand c'se the size of 120x120 is obvious too small for her, as you can see for yourself

Nah, sorry won't have no real effect; can't fulfill your wish. But since cats (yes, dogs too perhaps) can remember quite well; I'll just do that and wait 'till I have some real repping power like say 100. Now imagine the effect it would have at the moment you are about to become a BigDog, it would send you right back to the stone age when there were no specimen like you yet. Consider it as a free time travel. Now how's that for an "encore".

Wow tough one, but I do agree with you all the way, FP the new rep system seem's very fair, back then anyone can gain a BD status just by posting 300-500 post, now to really deserved a BD rank you must obtane 1000 reps and 2000 for TD status., indeed kaoru lose his BigDog rank, but that dosent matter(once I get that rank back), as long as I still have great members(FRIENDS) around, EF forum is still a GREAT site to be apart of. So I better find ways for other member to rep me, and I'll rep other member back for posting/contribution or something that I like. Other then that, I'll slash my kitana one last time for rep power, INDEED.

Very well said indeed. I second your words, and it's nice to see this attitude instead of "Why amn't I a Big Dog?"

I haven’t been participating as much in EF lately due to work responsibilities and family matters. It getting to the point that if I’m away from EF more than 7-10 days - the whole rule structure seems to have changed again. I’ve being around since May and I believe the status qualifications have changed 5-7 times in that short time period for the various “Dog” statuses. Losing Big Dog status is not important and I understand the reasons for EF directions.
A typical site is the typical 20%-80% profile( active to non active), based on the membership total of EF and the contributors in the various forums, I would guess EF is probably more 4%-96%. It just seems like many of the contributors that rightfully slammed me and helped me in the beginning I don’s seem them posting anymore.
I’m just concern that the lack of continuity in this structure and ever changing rules may impair other newer members contributing to EF for the long haul. Put another way, its like a parent setting goals for the kids to achieve and once the goals are reached, the parent says, that still wasn’t good enough, setting new goals and once those are achieved, changing them again. My suggestion would be to choose a structure and stay with it for 6 months.

FP -- In my opinion, 2000 rep points is an appropriate aspiration for wannabe Top Dogs. I think the way it is now is better than it has ever been, because like Mckay said the BD and TD tags really have to be earned now, and not just by pictures of babes, but by interaction.
Bullwinkle -- I agree that losing BD status is not important. However, the lack of continuity that you have endured over the past wee while has been endured by others too, and I see a lot of committed members who have stuck with EFF and who continue to help out newbies (like myself) and spur them on. In spite of the changes, the members here are great so I don't think the forums will suffer too much. The nwebies that come and immediately complain about the lack of porn (which is the area chiefly affected by the changes) are the ones this site could do without, IMHO.

Damn, demoted to Senior Member! Oh well I was a slow starter when I joined, definetely a lurker until I started picking up on (and becoming confident) on how to post images and reseed vids. Guess I'll have to step it up a little more and get those 250 rep points. I think it is a great idea though because it keeps you motivated to do the right thing and find new stuff to share.
