How to access the Chat feature.....

I have heard from a number of people that either they did not know that a chat existed on this site, or that they are having difficulties in accessing it. I created this post as a help for those that would like to come into chat. It is a nice way to get to know people. It is a lot of fun. And, much to Unkl’s chagrin, there are many cat pictures shared. There are others shared also, but why would anyone be interested in those.

First off, there are two ways to enter the chat feature. The first is listed across the top of the page. Like this.

However, that button does not always seem to work. For me, using the World Peace skin, it has never worked. On other skins, it does appear to work sometimes. Fortunately, there is a second way into chat, and this second one always works.

At the bottom of the page, beneath the list of users currently online, you will see a small chat button. By clicking on that button you will be able to access the chat feature.

yep!!! there's nothing else needed, except cat pic's in the chat room. eh Gman??? LOL

If you want to log off in chat, please use the upper right corner button.

Only by doing so your name will not remain present in the main page under Users in chat.

Otherwise it will remain there forever.

And here's the funny thing. If someone logs into chat and the previous person hasn't logged off properly, the person coming into chat will experience that the person he's expecting to meet leaves the chatroom at the same moment he comes in, allthough it was only a ghost that remained present in chat.

It took me some time to realize that. I thought I really scared the shit out of persons when I came in, because they all vanished the moment I entered the chat room.

I loved it that they where so scared of me.

Thanks for the info Plover, I always wondered why sometimes my name remained in chat long after I was gone (say after a crash or something)...

And if you use tabbed browsing, after closing the chat window session by hitting the upper right corner button; also close the coresponding tab (otherwise the chat window will remain open).
