Question Fitness Competitor Training

I'm 23, 5'2" and 122 lbs with 18% body fat. I am an ex-gymnast and I am becoming very interested in fitness competitions...not necessarily fitness modeling but the ms.fitness type. I have problems working out without a daily plan set out for me. I just don't know where to start. I have a goal to be competition ready in 1.5 years or less. I need HELP/GUIDANCE/INFORMATION on what to do in getting prepared. I'm living in Cincinnati and am a member of Bally's Total Fitness. Any help will be appreciated! Thanx!

Hi, Fitlilbit! I guess you followed me over here from MySpace. welcome!

I'd suggest you start here: Member's Workout Routines and A Collection of Our Best.

You also may want to check out the stickies in the Nutrition and Weight Loss area. There is also a new area: Women's Fitness.

I'm sure when ItalianAngel checks in, she can help you with some more specific information. Also, Gymgirl is on a similar journey; you might want to check out her blog.

YOur goal for a year out is great. First you need to pick a date, look at fitnessteambc.com and click into the Fitness section then check out some show dates from the links below, also www.naturalbodybuilding.com for the ms.fitness shows.
You do need to have some type of plan progressing you to the show as for diet and training but I would be happy to help and also if you like data you can look into my fitness manual also at the team bc site.....it covers it all with off season ideas for training with sample and 16 weeks of sample diet and training, plus every other detail you can think of from planning at a year out......
Anyhow, you can post any question here and I am happy to help.
First thing is a show date, then I need to know what your present level is fitness wise to know what you need work on. Brush up on some skills, what can you do gymnastics wise? Get your splits fresh and extend them all, work on pike and straddle holds, push ups etc.
Pick some music and a routine theme, plan out costume and suit ideas by jotting them down, sketches or whatever. The team bc site also has links to resources!
