Ankle Weights
Whats the deal with wrist&ankle weights ? I saw them in the shop today(0.5kg) and wanted to buy them, I get how they would work but am worried might get sprained or something? Any advice? Has anyone used these before? Also my arms don't have much strength in them so how likely is it i'd pull a muscle injure myself etc??

I had to use them in middle/high school as part of my rehab after a severe ankle sprain. I don't remember details, or the exercises with the ankle weight bands, but I do remember how awkward they were. Most people use them to add a touch of load while powerwalking or something. In my opinion, don't waste your money- they get in the way and they flop around a bit and really don't accomplish much. chances of hurting yourself are slim to none, unless you just trip over the awkward things.

when using ankle weights not only do they rub your ankles raw after an extended period of time but i feel they raise the risk of hip injurys. im only basing this statement off of what happened to my nephew from using them. he strained his hip muscles from using them and eventually led to a tear and he lost a whole years worth of running in high school as a result of it. he wasnt new to running either, five plus years of running experience in track and cross country.

get them, they are an excellent addition, I have them too, good for home training and challenging exercises like reverse cruches and knee raises. I used them to add weight other dumbbells if I needed or used them for glute work, used them as hand weight..........they are great.
