Default painful beez kneez!

Hallo!

So, just recently I've become weaker in the joints! It may have something to do with the fact that I'm lifting heavier? But remember when I could push 300kgs on the 45 deg leg press? Well now 100kgs feels really heavy and is super super painful on the knees.

I can take glucosamine or something right? but what I'm wondering is - do I do lighter weight and try to build up the knee strength? Do I strap it up or will that make it stay weak? Should I try and focus more on quads rather than hams like I am at the moment? (Do quads help support the knee?)

Its funny now after the comp the metabs slowed and the thyroids broke and the joints are hurtin' - I'm turning into an old man! haha

way way back when I torn my ACL, my rehab was all about strengthening the muscles around the knee... lots of leg extensions and leg curls.

well I am an old man. (41). My joints hurt, my answer to make them feel better is good ole fish oil, i read somewhere that they lubricate the tendons and ligaments, don't know if it's true or not, but it did help me. I would also wrap them for awhile to allow them to heal.

I'm old too (42), lol!! Whenever my knees ache I look to a few things first before deciding it's weak joints.....first thing is when do your knees cause you pain? If it's while you are training then look to your form and foot positioning......if that is not the issue then check with your shoes, is it time for new trainers? If that's not the reason, do you have a strength imbalance between quads and hammies? Quads do help to stabilize the knees, but your hammies are equally important in the equation as well.
Most often when I experience knee issues it's usually due to overly tight hips, glutes, quads and hammies and a real good stretching (foam rollering too).....and then it's my shoes. I can't even wear any of those cute flats you see ladies wearing because my knees would ache like crazy.......I need great arch support and no less than 1" heel on a flat shoe.....just things I've noticed over the years.

either way your hamstrings or quads are gonna put pressure on your joints
its inevitable, yes lighter weight will cause less friction in the joints.
