My wife is 5' 4" and 121 Lbs. She has had a baby and has some wrinkles in the tummy area. She needs to drop down to around 110 to 115 Lbs and tighten up her mid section. I just wanted to know what you think about the training I have for her.

Monday: treadmill for 10 minutes, 50 crunches, 50 leg lifts, 50 bicyles, chest press, flies, 3 sets of 50 bench crunches, 3 sets of 50 lifts, 3 sets of 50 bicycles 20 minutes elliptical machine.

Wed: treadmill for 10 minutes, 50 crunches, 50 leg lifts, 50 bicyles, row machine, back raises, shoulder press, front raises, 3 sets of 50 bench crunches, 3 sets of 50 lifts, 3 sets of 50 bicycles, 20 minutes stepper machine.

Fri: treadmill for 10 minutes, 50 crunches, 50 leg lifts, 50 bicyles, concentration curls, dumbbell curls, calf raises, leg extension, 3 sets of 50 bench crunches, 3 sets of 50 lifts, 3 sets of 50 bicycles 20 minutes elliptical machine.

We are going for some weight loos but mainly getting her mid section tone. Do you have any suggestions.

I think you created a pretty good plan from scratch for the most part. However, you're missing two essential exercises, especially when it comes to the ladies.

1. Squats.

2. Lunges.

For the record, you cannot spot-reduce. Meaning, you can't pick specific exercises that exercise a specific area on your body and expect to burn off fat just from that area and nowhere else. But, you can pick exercises which stimulate multiple muscle groups, which in turn will help reduce fat from all over the body, including her tummy area that she wants to improve. That's what makes Squats and Lunges such great exercises.

However, I am recommending doing these two exercises only if she is physically able. If she has a debilitating bodily condition or an injuried area that worsens her condition while doing Squats or Lunges, then don't have her do them!

Remember, diet is key! She will not reduce fat from her tummy area if her diet is not clean, and forces a healthy Calorie restriction. You can find more helpful information in our Nutrition and Weight Loss section located here:

I'm sure some of the other ladies around here who have experienced having children and are able to retain their beautiful physiques are able to give some better advice.
