How do I put a Pic with my display name???

Hi People

, Dumb question I know

but am stuck here, want to put a pic with my username but don't know how, only link I see related to that is 'edit avatar' and only option that gives is 'do not use avatar' any advice

?

hey hun, did you be sure to scroll all the way down the page? after the choice of no avatar on the top of the page, there are a bunch of thumbnail pics....if you go down past them, then there is the option to brwose for a pic on your computer, but it will probly have to be resized, bc I believe there is a size restriction, unless this forum automatically resizes it for you, like mine does.

I again scrolled all the way down but nothing it doesnt go very far down and at the end just has a tab which says 'donation' and a few other links like FAQs and 'contact us', I think this system just doesnt like me lol! Contacted the 'contact us' link two days though but still no reply

There could be a post-restriction on these features. Try to post a few useful comments here and there for a week, and when you pass 15, try again

yes, maybe you have to have attained soe status here...try posting (legit posts, not spam hehe) and see if your status increases. I don't remember hehe it's been so long since I joined here. But don' tgive up, you'll get an avatar eventually lol

I'm sure it's not some glitch in the system...just spend some more time here

its a lot more than 15 posts to be able to put your own avatar up. I wanna say it was like 50-100 or so, dont remember exactly. You can choose from standard ones though.

oh okay, I did not realize this, when I joined I was able to do one right away.

Avatars

Under our old system anyone was allowed to have an avatar. During the conversion we noted over 1,000 avatars were in use on our boards. During the conversion to the new system, we limit the use of avatars and eventually reset all non-supporter avatars. We did this because the analysis of our server imformation showed that more than 50% of our server traffic was attributable to avatars! Our server was typically running at upwards of 9mb/second during the daytime and even with the added load of our new layout (which uses more graphics), our bandwidth usage has dropped more than 50% since resetting the avatars. Many avatars were also being linked to other sites increasing the demand on our resources.

To keep our bandwidth usage at a reasonable level, we've extended our site supporters the benefit of being able to have their own avatar. It only makes sense that those who contribute to the overall costs of the site would get such a benefit.

We regret that so many people were upset about the loss of their avatar; but the benefit/cost analysis is very obvious.

The avatar limits are documented above; but we reserve the right to remove or disallow any objectionable content as an avatar. The means any content which is not allowed on the site is not allowed within an avatar.

hehe when was this dated?

I guess it would make sense...those of us who have been here a while, like me, wouldn't notice any change bc we wouldnt be affected....well, unless I suppose we were streaming our avatar from somewhere else, instead of just uploading a pic here directly

lol, well I'm not actually sure. I was trying to figure it out myself so I could upload my picture and stumbled over the faqs. So I take it from your experience this is a pretty cool site too?

Avatars and signatures are limited to those that have been around a while or have super special privileges, like Babes, Warrior's, Photographers, big dogs, top dogs, and site supporters, and of course Mods and Admin get one too

this info is posted on the top of every forum as an Announcement, they are put there for your information (FYI) like so....

there's also rules and guidelines to go by, they are usually posted at the top when you enter a forum as stickies. I suggest you read those too

Eva dn Itallian Angel, the reason you were able to right away is because you were made a special user, EF Babe or whatever it was back then.

I guess thats answered my question, guess i'll b without an avatar then

lol jus kidding, its only fair they first go to those whove been here longer and use/contribute more, thanks you guys and yep this really is a great site! I've gotton lots of motivation tips on here on getting in shape I only joined in july when I was 97kilos and am now 90 an getting closer to getting my gorgeous pre-pregnancy bod back

Ok so I finally was able to add an avatar to my profile but it only gave me some avatars to choose from. I tried to search through the site to see if I would be able to change it to a custom avatar later on, does anyone have an idea? I couldn't find anything else on it. Thanks bunches!

Yeah- I just changed it because the one I had before someone else already had on their profile... I wish we had more to choose from.
