World's 10 Best (male) Athletes
So the Wall St. Journal used a certain criteria (strength, speed, stamina, coordination, etc.) to pick the world's 10 best athletes - the dudes we would send to represent Earth in the galactic Olympics.
I'm not sure I agree with some of them, but it's interesting to discuss. The #1 guy sounds downright badass.
"AND THE WINNER IS: ROMAN SEBRLE. The Czech decathlete could jump over Shaquille O’Neal. He could throw a 16-pound ball the length of a 53-foot yacht. From a running start, he could leap over a two-lane highway."
Enjoy!

It looked like they only picked one guy from the different sports. Otherwise they probably should have had a few more decathletes and football players instead of Federer and the cyclist (no offense to tennis players or cyclists, but if strength and power are part of the criteria, I would expect those guys to be behind in those categories).

I think your right, I went back and re-read the criteria. I'm O.K. with Federer, the agility, power burst (serve) and stamina have got to be tops, I have all kinds of respect for cyclists (have you ever tried to ride fast up a hill much less a mountain) The one that bugs me is Crosby. I'm a hockey fan and for skill and stamina I'll give him props, but he's soft in the corners and avoids contact down low. I can give 3 or 4 who would better represent... Toonces has got two on his team....Go Wings...

Oh yeah... every guy on that list is an amazing athlete and I could never even dream to hope for a chance to do what they do. I have all kinds of respect for professional athletes of any sport (except maybe curling).
I was just thinking about the article where it mentions another decathlete who is expeted to challenge the guy they list as # 1 at the upcoming olympics. I would think he would rank higher on the list than maybe even everyone from # 2 on down.
