Boyfriends Man Boobs
Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone elses boyfriend has been suffering from sore swollen boobs?
He's started doing alot of weight training and someone said it's normal!
More to the point is there anything he can do to help with the discomfort?
Thanks
Andrea

Ummmmm.......dunno, doesn't sound weight training related to me. maybe he's got a hormonal imbalance.......men don't get 'boob's' until later in life due to changes in hormone levels.....painful manboobs need to be checked....could you post some pics of his manboobs?

Yeah, that's weird. Guys might get sore chest muscles from working out, but swollen boobs sounds like a hormonal issue (gynocomastia) or trauma done to fat tissue. The first is completely normal and is probably due to working muscles that aren't used to the strain, while the latter two probably aren't that good.

Definitely a big difference between "boobs" and "pecs" or "chest" If he is developing actual breast tissue, it's a hormonal thing and would need to be addressed by a doctor. If you're simply referring to sore pectoral muscles in the chest, that's completely normal.

i would actually check the way the nipple looks. Gynocomastia typically makes the nipple look larger and more female like. Glandular tissue and excess fat makes the nipple look like this. If the nipple looks fine, but they still really look like man-boobs, that (dont take my word for it) i beleive, is pseudo- gynocomastia. This can be worked off, where as the glandular type listed above needs pills or surgery.
pseudo-gynocomastia can look almost exactly like the real thing, so be careful. I actually thought i had a case of gyno once when actually my body fat percentage was just a little high ( i probably had pseudo-gyno in this case). i worked off like 10bs and my pecs look great now. So, like, kinda be careful don't be presumptuous or make impulsive decisions. It could be that his body fat percentage is alittle high. In fact i think the correlation with male obesity and man-boobs is like 60%?
Hope this helped,
CON

I agree with everyone here, there has to be clarification first since it may or may not be something to have his dr. look into.
If he is training with anabolics or any type of steriod then this can happen too but when I say steriod don't confuse me with meaning supplements, stuff like creatine etc is fine.
gyno is apparently quite common though but should be dealt with a dr incase he has to prescribe something to balance his body chemistry or look into it farther.

I just noticed 'discomfort'. Is he having like physical discomfort, pain or irritation or is it just aesthetic discomfort, he does not like how it looks? If its the first one.....then def. check with the dr.

Seems to me that if he just started working out, he probaby fried out his chest by overworking it.
My boyfriend (God love him) pretty much ignores me and any of my tips for working out even though I've been doing this kind of stuff for years. He does 4-5 sets of burnout bench 2 days in a row even though I yell at him and tell him he's being stupid, then while gripe about how sore/miserable he is for a week afterwards.
If he really is developing gyno, send him to the dr.
