lot of controversy in the new bikini division.
People are pretty pissed off that some general chicks with no muscle tone whatsoever who are naturally slim are getting pro cards after 1 or 2 shows.
What's next, a wet T-Shirt division

Like a good pig...err... man, I like wet t-shirt divisions and skinny, quasi-naked internet modelebrities with flabby butts and less muscle than a 6 year old kid... so long as they stay the hell out of anything related to fitness comps and ladies who bust their (perfect) asses in the gym.

I saw the bikini comp at the Arnold this year. Honestly, the girls were a major letdown. None were what I considered "in shape" and it made me realize just how damn hot the figure and fitness girls are! The bikini girls were so lame that it was almost like a parody of the real competitors. As far as I could figure, there was absolutely no real prep at all. A couple of the girls didn't even have a tan. They just "posed" in some very lame way, not like the figure girls do. No muscle, no tone, absolutely not a hint of abs...WTF? I know it about the money but judging by the reaction at the Arnold, the fans were mostly cracking jokes after the bikini part of the evening. They might be able to get away with it at smaller shows, but the true fitness, bodybuilding, and even figure fans seem to know better.

This should probably be moved to another forum imho... this is a picture forum. Maybe better moved to a more proper discussion area.
That said the bikini comp's put on by 'Flex' and 'F.A.M.E.' have had much more athletic participants than in the NPC. The girls in those events have looked fantastic and the NPC and IFBB should give what they are doing a serious look.

None of the girls at the Arnold looked like this. But then again, what makes this girl diff from a figure girl?

+the suit and the fact that she doesn't have to diet down as hard to win over all the other naturally thin bikini playboy girls.

Pick your poison my friend. Can't complain one way and then do the same the other direction. Apparently as part of their planned direction the NPC and IFBB 'softened' up the figure at the 2009 Arnold. The rest of the world and other organizations are not going along with it and for the better imho. In any previous year the difference between Kathleen and the figure competitors in the IFBB and NPC would be obvious to anyone ...not this year.

It does suck that some girls are genetically gifted enough to simply walk onto stage after a night of partying and close the deal, but in a competition where we reward for an aesthetically pleasing physique we can't regulate the work ethic behind it unless we say we're looking for a "harder" look.
But in light of these softer figures, lets have bodybuilders compete at 8-10% bf instead of 4%. Jk, but wouldn't that make the emphasis more on size and symmetry rather than conditioning, and give some ppl a chance of actually retaining some mass from their bulk.

I dont get why they're doing this. Although I guess there are models and stuff that are working so much that they cant afford to get to the 'too thin' and inevitable 'too big' part after cutting, and need to stay in betweeny the whole time, but yeah. I havent made my mind up how I feel about this. Calling if Figure, Fitness and Physique kinda made it more of a liberating thing but calling it a Bikini Comp makes it seem, I dont know, lower class. Perhaps if they called it something else? I guess it could be for figure ladies who cant cut for whatever reason?
I dont know.
Hmmm.

I agree GG. It's gotten ridiculous. Female BBers used to look like figure girls of today. Rachel McLish, even Corey Everson. Then they got huge and waaaay to into AAS. So the public turned off. They came up with figure to bring back that look that had been lost. Then the figure girls got more buff and they come to the conclusion that they need a watered-down division called "bikini"? They girl in the pic above is actually more cut than most of these bikini winners. She is actually a few weeks of dieting from being a good figure competitor. But the bikini division is stupid IMO. It's an attempt to bring more guys from the mainstream into the paying audience. Problem is that most people coming to these shows would rather see a figure or fitness girl any day (at least that was the overwhelming reaction at the Arnold). I think it will fade over time. There are already plenty of "bikini" contests at bars, spring break, and beaches everywhere!
