MissytroN's Fitness Journal
Hey everybody! Well, I guess this is my time to shine! At the moment, my goal is to decrease body weight and increase tone and definition. I just finished a GREAT morning workout session at home, this is what I did:
30 mins skipping
Ab work (crunches, reverse crunches, side crunches, plank position, etc.)
Lunges 20x each side & pulses
Dips 40x & pulses
Pushups only 12
I feel fantastic. It's the last month of winter here in Australia (good riddance to it!), and I don't know about you guys, but it really affects my motivation when it's cold, so all I have to say is that if anyone else goes through the same slump in winter months, just push through, and MAKE the time when you think you dont have any! It's worth it in so many ways.
This is what I ate yesterday:
Breakfast: 2 Scrambled eggs with half a tomato
Snack: Nuts and banana
Lunch Tuna, salad & low fat mayonaise on wholemeal bread (sandwich)
Snack: Apple + a few more peanuts
Dinner: Have to be honest and say I was not home to cook dinner, so had to go to subway =/ Had turkey on wheat bread, only AFTER I ordered that did I realise they make SALADS!!!! Stupid me! But During the week I tend to have chicken/salmon (protein) breast grilled w/ salad or vegies.
Any constructive critisism is highly appreciated. I want to start planning which body parts to work each day so I have a plan, do you think thats a good idea?
Thx for reading!

I'd say you're off to a great start. So here's a thumbs up for you!
Don't worry about your dinner. Subway isn't that bad if you just get a plain sandwich. It's usually when people get the extra oils, different cheeses, side of chips, cookies, and soda that Subway gets its bad reputation from.
Some things you'll have to explain to us. What are:
- Skipping?
- Plank positions?
- Pulses?
Also, where do you workout? Do you have a gym membership with access to different types of equipment? Or do you workout from home? If you don't have a gym membership yet, I would highly recommend you invest in one if you can afford it. You'll find that if you workout in an environment which promotes health & fitness, you'll be more motivated to exercise.

Looking awesome as!! If you keep that up you'll definately get results! I've found diet really honestly is 80-90% of results! oh yeah and you can get turkey wraps if you want a little bit of carbs and its only 200 cals if you dont have cheese or dressing
Apparently the winter came too late and all the famers lost millions. PFFFT
SCREW THE FARMERS GET STUFFED WINTER!
Hey Insex! I had no idea those were Australianisms! But Skipping is when you skip with a rope! and pulses are where you do a small amount of movement but a lot of times. Like if you hold a dumbel out in front of you and just lift it slightly up and down (almost like bouncing it) for about 20 million times.
well thats my take ^_^

Love it, love it!!!
What confused me was cold and Australia in the same sentence?????
Your cals maybe a bit low for now but might have to increase a tad later....of course it all depends on serving sizes.....that I don't know.
I would definately plan your workout for sure if you have the time, it forces you to do it, to be accountable and when you look back at the dates logged, you feel you have accomplished something!!

Aww wow! Thanks a lot for replying ppl! Aww gymgirl you're too sweet haha. Yeah, I had no idea that 'skipping' and 'pulses' are Australian terms either, but I think you set the record straight! Yeah skipping is probably 'jumprope' or something to you guys. Ummmm yeh I skip mainly because I hate the coooold morning weather, and it's equivalent to jogging anyways, so I can do that indoors and it's great, I put on some rockin music and really go for it!
Insex: plank position is this: http://www.abs-exercise-advice.com/plank.html I want to sign up to a gym very soon. Funny really because, I have a free membership at the gym I used to work at, but dont feel at all motivated or even comfortable being there, so I rarely go! I'll join up soon at a better one around my area, it's called Fitness First, theyre quite good.
Italian Angel: ohhh yeah! I live in Melbourne (south east of Australia) and it does get soo cold in Winter! But in northern Australia, like Queensland, they do have beautiful weather pretty much all year round. Anyways, I've always been confused with calories and have never really counted cals, I just generally know what to eat at what time of day. I get so hungry lately and I always feed myself, with only good foods of course. But I get so hungry at night, tell me something, is it bad to have a cup of powdered hot chocolate at night if I'm hungry with only water, it only has 68 calories per serve? Or better to have protein? After my morning workout, I usually have a very high release protein that is digested in 20 mins, and then have breakfast about half an hour after the protein drink, so it's fully absorbed.
Thx guys n gals! xx

LOL Hijack away please!!! My thread could use a bit of colour! OH THE WORD COLOUR! We spell it with a 'u' in it, but America spells it 'color'!! Meh, doesn't mattterrrrrr.
Anyways, I usually do 'Jumprope' for about half an hour, and yeh it's not that easy, I do it at a fast pace, (running pace) and I try and count to 2000 skips (1000 on each foot, get me?) Like, I'll do the right foot, and left foot, and count that as one. I'm having dificulty though, and always have had difficulty with asthma probs, but cannot source what it's coming from. I think it's a derivative from allergies that I have developed as I have grown up, coz I never used to have asthma when I was a kid...I gotta get it checked out.
Oh and by the way...VERY OFF TOPIC, out of curiosity...did Rove even rate well in the U.S.A?? I thought it was so strange that he just went to U.S and shot his show.
Anyways, I'm gonna be an early bird tomorrow and do another killa workout! WOO! :-D

protein...........
But tell me your day of eating, the times too, on these days you find you are hungry later............I bet I can find a way to tweak it so you are not hungry by night.

Ahh, sorry I havent replied for a while. Okay Linda, I'll tell you a typical day of eating, and I appreciate your help:
*workout*
protein drink
Breakfast: 2 Weet Bix with skim milk (approx half hour after i drink protein)
Snack: Banana
Lunch: sandwich w/tuna, lettuce, tomato etc
Snack: Heath bar, more fruit
Dinner: Meat and veg/healthy side
Again, just to remind you, this is just a rough idea if what i eat, but I ususally eat like this. If you would like me to be more specific, I will write down EXACLTY what I had today, and you can critisize from there.
Also, another recent update is that I joined a better gym than I was at before, and I am soooo much happier! So yay for me! hehe It's amazing how much more motivation something new gives you, so I'm very happy.

I would add protein 1-3 hours pre bed...........add eggs to your break, ditch the cereal and milk, go with oatmeal and eggs........suggestion.
snack 1 - add almonds- maybe even yogurt
lunch - add more veggies, dark green, leafy, fibrous, like 1-2 cups.
some ideas to mull over......

If anyone wants to swap identities let me know i'll be only too glad to immirate - provided your end is sunny of course !

angelfaces: yeah you're right, it could be worse, but stilll......winter sucks either way!!! haha poor thing
energyfirey: lol I havent acutally done jumprope since the I wrote the first post on this thread!!! I joined at a new gym and I love it there, so I rarely workout at home anymore. But jumprope is quite hard when you're starting out...it's just so good when you've got great music on that you love, and you go as fast as the beat, it keeps you going! But you have to find the right tempo. It's a great cardio workout, equal to jogging! =)
Linda: thanks for the great qadvice...but why do you think I should ditch milk in the morning...and swap for oatmeal and eggs? I consulted someone about dropping the milk out of my breakfast and they said it was pretty good for my body to have it, so I still continue to eat it. Usually I may have eggs on wholemeal toast aswell.
A final note from me, I would just like to say thankyou to everyone for your support, keep on believing, and make it happen!!!!
xx
